It had been a long day.  A successful day, but a long one working in the pit all day.  Each of her patients had survived though, so Lexie had to consider that a good day.  After changing clothes, she headed across the street to Joe’s.  She spotted Mark immediately when she came into the bar.  Public was against the rules as were feelings, but she was starting to think maybe that line was being crossed.  It wouldn’t hurt to say hi though, and see how his day was.  It didn’t have to be anything more.  She shifted her bag to her opposite shoulder and headed for his direction.  “Hey you,” Lexie greeted as she smiled at Joe, knowing he would be over in a moment.  “How was your day?”

Lexie frowned.  “That doesn’t exactly seem fair Mark.  Especially when I bought the good decorations,” she pointed out before digging into the shopping bags she had set on the counter.  “LOOK!  These pumpkins are absolutely adorable!” she tried showing him the 12 small glitter pumpkins she had purchased.  Next, she pulled out a fall harvest sign.  “It’s going to look amazing in here.  At least it isn’t boring sports memorabilia.”

Jackson typically would have consulted with April on the matter of what baby gift to bring when meeting the newest member of the Sloan household, but that hadn’t been a possibility.  He had been left to his own devices in the store, which is why he had a balloon and a gift bag filled with things they likely already had.  He also had a take out bag in his other hand because who didn’t enjoy food?  He thought he had heard food and new babies went together.  Jackson rang the bell and waited.

AJ had made plans to go over to Mark and Addison’s to meet the newest addition.  He had brought dinner along with gift Alayna had recommended he bring with him because it was important to show support for new families.  AJ grinned when the door swung open.  “Hey man.  I come bearing gifts,” he greeted.  Although, gifts and a new baby wasn’t the real reason AJ had made a point to come by.  No.  Alysa was, but there was plenty of time to get into all of that.

Jackson stood at the nurses station, going through the charts.  He always made sure to get here early now to pick the best cases, leaving Goldman with the ones he didn’t want.  Although today, he was considering throwing the fourth year a bone.  He and April had an appointment to look at an apartment that evening, and he didn’t want to get stuck on a case.  Jackson took another sip from his coffee and looked to see Mark standing beside him.  “Hey.”

Lucas had been delivering twins via emergency C-section when the OR started to rumble about their plane going down.  Elena was on that plane.  He knew that, but he remained focused.  Concentrating on bringing two new lives into the world.  Mother and both babies were healthy when he scrubbed out.  No complications.  Just the way he liked it.  Lucas scrubbed out, following his same scrub routine that he always did.  

Once he had walked out of the scrub room though he broke off into a run.  He needed to find Mark.  Elena likely would have texted him or something.  He had to know more than Lucas did.  He took the stairs, running as fast as he could to the plastics floor.  Lucas pulled the door opened and spotted Mark at the nurses station.  “Tell me she didn’t go,” he called out closing the space between himself and his former brother-in-law.

Lexie had stopped by the deli and grabbed breakfast for herself and Mark as she knew she would need to sweeten the deal if this plan was going to work.  Sex would be her second option if breakfast failed.  If she had to try again tomorrow?  She would bring brownies.  Everything was a mess for everyone it seemed, and there were only certain parts she could fix.  Her mission today was two fold: get Josh out of Seattle and get Mark back.  Josh wouldn’t leave Seattle because she told him too, but what if Mark did?  Lexie couldn’t exactly have her ex-boyfriend hanging around while she started her life with Mark.  No, it was too weird.  

If all of Nathan’s situation had taught her one thing, hell even Meredith and Derek’s, life was too short to worry about every little detail.  So instead of opening her mouth and saying nothing, today.....today she would say everything.  Leave it all on the table, and she would know.  One way or the other.  But Lexie knew after their night together a few weeks ago, she knew he still loved her too.  

She didn’t even change into scrubs before heading to Mark’s office.  She knocked before poking her head in.  “Morning.  Do you have a minute?  I brought breakfast.”

“So is Goldman the new me yet?” Jackson asked as he walked towards Mark, two coffees in hand.  They were meant to have a huge case today.  One of the lasts they were likely to work on together before everything changed with fellowships.  He thought he had seen Josh’s name on the board with Mark’s when he passed earlier.
