HEADCANON # 01

Leslie and Roy Elric were the parents who adopted a two year old Katie Rockbell, who they renamed, Moira Elric. The two always wanted a child but were unable to conceive, so when the recently orphaned girl came into their sights they were ecstatic. However, despite loving hr a great deal and taking care of her, neither were warm people. They didn’t pay attention to her emotions, or what Moira cared about. Often, they neglected her. Leaving her alone in their very big house, having the staff take of her and forgetting about things that were important to her. As Moira grew, she found herself very lonely. At least until she met the Callaghan family.

Neither Roy or Leslie ever told Moira she was adopted, and to this day, she still had no idea of it. She doesn’t even know she has an a older brother out there, whose searching for the man who killed her, and who has no idea she was resurrected. .

Btw, me and my mother are still “final facepalming + dafaq did we just watch? mode” because..of a very silly tv movie she stumbled upon yesterday afternoon.

Since tv schedule got totally changed - we just lost the italian voice actor for Woody in Toy Story, a GREAT tv host, hence why almost all channels halted light-hearted programs - my mother was struggling to find something to watch and..

There was this movie, German-made and...filmed here in Sicily?

Mom called me several time from the living room and I could tell she was having a blast - I was playing OW -  because, you know..”Oh, look they’re in city! Oh look it’s the Cathedral, OMG it’s the port, ASDFGHJKL look they’re in Taormina!”.

I dropped by the living room around..I suppose it was nearly the end???? There was this couple, likely the lead characters and they had an accident on Etna.

While it was erupting.

And they found shelter in an half-buried by the ash and lava house.

And there was lava and smoke everywhere around them. *pokerfaces*

Smoke rising from smoke machines hidden behind the boulders and lava footage clearly taken from eruptions of Kilauea (in Hawaii) and Stromboli (another volcano/island off Sicily) with the flow heading...straight into the freakin sea??? (trough Stromboli’s Sciara del Fuoco..wtf srsly) And there were people/friends of the lead characters looking for them, but got stopped by a pair of Carabbinieri bc of the emergency situation....on the DESERTED road that leads to the tourist area of Piano Sapienza....

And then when the eruption “calmed down” these...couple emerged from nearby the road and happily reunited with the rest...and....*facewalls*

That’s not how it works IRL you know??????????

Heck, I even recognized the exact spots where they filmed this whole sequence I swear. The half-buired house? It’s this one. It’s on the SP92 road which starts from the village of Nicolosi and reaches the Etna Sud- Piano Sapienza tourist station. The really wide road where the Carabbinieri ordered the folks to halt?! It’s this fucking one. It’s the very same road my dad uses as shortcut to reach SP92 from the eastern side of Etna. I know it has another name, but is known to population as “strada del Salto del Cane” - literally dog’s leap road - because of the namesake mount/former side crater nearby. =.=;

Yes, I know these places like the back of my hand since I’ve been there countless times. :/

What really makes me facepalm here it’s the fact because of silly movies like this - in general - on tv people from abroad (read: rest of Italy & the world I suppose) think/has the misconception we people here live on a time bomb of sorts and that we’re perpetually risking our lives.

Which is..not. It’s like telling people living in Naples they’re gonna die in any moment bc the Vesuvius will blow up. Which is true but...first, they don’t give a fuck about it, second...entirely different type of volcano. Your lame jokes don’t apply here. 8I
