Not even I could have imagined what it would have looked like.... And so, in hopes of making an atrocity, it began.....
Today, one year ago, I made the worst typo in the history of the world, Zareth, and in turn the first drawings of him were created in the hopes of making the absolute worst character fusion possible. And this is how it turned out:
This was not as planned. And so I drew him more...
And, much to my dismay, I began to like his design, and others did too. He went through a few tweaks in his design over the months of drawing him, the initial colours being atrocious, the second round be beautiful but not fitting, and the third and final colour set and design being the one that stuck!
And so from there on, I kept drawing him. He’s kinda been a bit of a staple to my re-entrance to this fandom(I’ve had my blog since 2016, just never touched it since last year becasue I fell out of it.). Heck, I even drew different variants of Zareth since 2 days after the concept even(though, not all of them are applicable by any means, its still fun to draw).
Even got a whole series of books written for him expanding his character by @noramutaofrost, which I thank very much so! They’ve put a lot of hard work into it, even though all I gave them to work with at the start was a simple set of traits and some pictures, and I recommend reading the whole series if you wanna get a feel for his character.
Artists such as Joe Jackson, [x] [x] [x], The Romantics [x] [x] [x], Jamie Cullum [x] [x], and Duran Duran [x] are a few that give off Zareth vibes for me, and are the songs I listened to when working him out.
Zareth does indeed have a voice claim, I even made a little animation to go with it if you’re curious!
