buckle up this is a long one.
first tackling my stance on misako hate. like, you do realize she was a grieving widow suddenly thrust into single-parenthood of a likely newborn she quickly knew was destined to defeat and/or kill his dad while also having a dangerous and demanding job as an archeologist after her husband was banished, right? you do realize she abandoned him in an attempt to STOP the prophecy from being jumpstarted, right? you do realize that she abandoned lloyd and made shitty decisions because she was in crisis and not thinking straight, right? she has made some bad decisions, yes, but you have to understand that she was a young woman who had just lost her husband, couldn't fully trust him in wu's care (morro incident), and had a dangerous job that required a lot of her attention. she could either abandon lloyd or give up any chance of saving her family, she chose what she thought was best. misako was stressed and scared, and when that happens, people get irrational. and that's okay, because she's changed and regrets it.
not to mention, a lot of people hate her because of stuff she simply did not do, i.e. neglect lloyd. coming from a neglect survivor, THAT WASN'T NEGLECT ON MISAKO'S PART! LLOYD WASN'T TAKEN CARE OF BECAUSE HIS GUARDIANS (aka darkley's boarding school) DIDN'T TAKE CARE OF HIM! MISAKO DID NOTHING!

let me tell you why: because misako was busy being an archeologist and trying to prevent the final battle, and because she was not in the mental space to take care of a newborn.

fair point, but you do realize it was probably 1. one of the few boarding schools in the entirety of ninjago, and 2. she wanted him to grow up not hating his dad. sure, she could've dumped him at an orphanage instead, but there is no way to guarantee he gets a proper education and she clearly did not want to give her child to another family, if she wanted to, she would've. AND misako had no clue that lloyd would be mistreated and kicked out of darkley's, she couldn't have known, she can't predict the future. you can't blame her for something she had no clue was going to happen.

FUCK I WOULD TOO! if my husband was gone for so many years and showed absolutely no signs of returning or being good, i would feel entitled to at least date someone. she was conflicted about her feelings in the first place, stuck in a game of tug-o-war between two people she loved dearly. she fell in love with garmadon because of a forged letter. sure, garmadon forged the letter because he was manipulated by chen, but he ultimately made the decision to do it instead of standing up for himself. it's not her fault that she was conflicted. not to mention, SHE DID LOVE GARMADON! she married him, had a baby with him, accepted him warmly when he was cured, didn't care about the letter being forged, and her whole motivation in the early seasons was getting her family back, INCLUDING garmadon. she loved him. but if garmadon couldn't stay to love her back, she deserves to go out and meet someone new. you let garmadon move on, when is it misako's turn to?
anyway i LOVEEEEE MISAKO!!!!! shes so intelligent and pretty, she is a freaking ARCHEOLOGIST! isn't that cool??? she was part of an exclusive club, she's confident, she's assertive, she gives good advice... i like to think of her being used as an exposition device is more so her info-dumping about her special interests (autistic misako my love) (lloyd had to get it from somewhere). she's such an amazing woman genuinely, i love her with my whole heart. i hope she gets to spend the entirety of her life just doing what she loves, retiring rich, and relaxing. misako you have been put through so much i love you for you. people always talk about "misako the wife" or "misako the mother" but never about misako the archeologist, and that's so sad to me. she is so much more than just the traditional roles she was designed for. LIVE YOUR LIFE MISAKO I AM HERE FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!!
