We were always waiting too long to let ourselves be seen.

Carved out of such tiny beings as we are

We cherished each our minor griefs

Lost as a light is lost in light

Where that is not

Where years have sunk and settled to the floor

I want to be pure flame. I want to be your song.

Hand in hand, with the words

Poems are as heartless as birdsong, as unmeant
