We got another new Starbucks in Edinburgh recently. Someone spray painted 'ANOTHER ONE???!!' On it in large black writing. Which was swiftly painted over. A lot of independent coffee shops here do a 'pay forward' scheme where when you buy your coffee, you can pay for another for someone to come in and have if they're homeless. Costa is tidy, but overpriced to be fair.

I’ve heard of the pay it forward thing but always assumed it was a myth, glad to hear it’s a real thing!

Also remember no hate towards people working in Starbucks, it’s not their fault that Starbucks are the way they are, and they gotta earn a living.

I don't hate Starbucks. In fact, I kinda like it. But its the novelty of having the stuff they do once or twice. I only get it on holidays and have probably have had it less than ten times in my life. But even as someone who really likes their coffee and drinks, seventeen fecking shops in one city is pure madness! And the fact that they basically pay no tax and take customers from local businesses just isn't right. I SUPPORT THIS BOYCOTT

Count me in for boycotting Starbucks in Cork! (There's only three in the city but still too many) Anyone know of good places to get frappucinos in other Cork based coffee shops?

For the anon with the lactose-intolerant friend: take them to Antoinette's Bakery! Primarily a cake shop not a coffee shop, but they focus on allergy-friendly baking, so they'd have lots of options for lactose-free cakes and things to go with their drink. :)

While we're havin our Starbucks boycott, let me do what I do best: complain. Starbucks coffee honestly taste like bollocks! It's so overrated!! If you want to be 'fashionable' with you coffee places, the cute indie ones or smaller ones (insomnia is great) are way cooler and cuter and have better tasting coffee for fucks sake, like. They also pay their tax ☕️ (that emoji has a double meaning now xD)

I’d fight them.They almost sucked me in when they had that drink that tasted like mulled wine, but they can feck off.

Could you or anyone recommend anywhere in town that does a nice hotchoc, that's not too expensive? Also good scones?

Accents & Ladurée do great hot chocolate, but you’re looking at over €3 a cup.I think Accents do scones too so that could be the place to go!
