Gold memento-mori fede-ring. This large ring, either intended as a thumb-ring or to be worn over a glove on the finger, is made of gold, enamelled and set with gemstones. 

The bezel is in the form of a clasped book, placed horizontally. On upper side is a white skull between four stones (sapphire, ruby, emerald and diamond), with two green toads and snakes. Inside the book is a white recumbent figure with a skull and hour-glass upon green ground. A black-letter inscription on the underside of cover reads SIVE VIVIM, SIVE/MORIMVR DOMI/NI SVM, COMMEN/DA DOMINO.VIAM/TVAM.ET.SRERA/IN.EVM.ET.IPSE/FACIET (“For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord” (Romans, xiv. 8) “Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in Him; and he shall bring it to pass” (Psalm xxxvii. 5)). The figure groups on the shoulders represent the Fall from Grace and Expulsion from Eden. The back of the hoop is in the form of hands clasping a heart.
