I was speaking with a friend last night about writing, and specifically pacing and they asked a couple of pertinent questions.

what's the reason for keeping it slow-paced?

what do you feel is the takeaway from it?

Do you feel frustrated by its pacing, or is it deliberate? and if it's deliberate, what are the limitations you have in place for the pacing?

These are really good questions, and I’m not sure I have a suitable answer for them, even a day later.

I don’t know if the pacing of C&S feels slow because I know how long it’s taking to write, or if it actually feels slow to the reader.

If you have read The Corpse & the Spider, even partially, please let me know how you found the pacing, specifically.

Okay Tumblr I’m working on a series of vignettes, mostly in-universe writings and folk tales, set in my fantasy setting. An idea I had today was the Woman-Who-Would-Be/Woman-Who-Was.

Basically summary, bit about the Woman-Who-Would-Be’s problems like having to shave the hair from her face, etc. Without being explicit, make it clear she’s a transwoman. She’d talk to an old woman, learn of certain herbs, and fashion a pendant from a stone. Spend some amount of time--haven’t set on the number yet, but it’d be Significant for reasons we’ll come to--drinking tea made from the herbs each day and wearing the stone or possibly using it to crush the herbs for the beverage

Her body would become better suited--no more facial hair growing, chest aching and swelling (Going to go for semi-poetic folkstory language), and then at the end of the period of time, she travels to an old shrine. Disrobes, enters a pool of crystal clear water.

The water is warm and welcoming, and she feels a benevolent presence. Cut to the Woman-Who-Was emerging from the water. The stone is gone, and she knows she won’t find it--part of the spirit’s price. The other part of the price is something she’ll gladly do--if she meets another who needs what she needed, she will share with her the secrets.

Does that sound like a respectful piece? I want to establish trans people as existing, being accepted, and having a way to transition in the world, while also exploring a bit the nature of spirit contracts (which are a HUGE part of the setting)

Yo, stream regulars.

How would y'all feel about a somewhat earlier stream time for the Team ICO runs? Let's say, starting at 2PM US Pacific? (That's three hours earlier than what I usually do.) There is a time/date converter here.

My buddy Klaimen is a big Team ICO fan and wants to come, but my usual streams tend to be too late for him. Shadow of the Colossus and ICO are both relatively short games (my last run of ICO was about six hours with quite a bit of forgetting how to puzzle, and the last SotC one was about thirteen with a hell of a lot of faffing around and exploring - actual important gameplay was maybe 8-10), so this would probably be a temporary thing until I beat 'em both.

Depending on how it all shakes out, we could then do a little Hatoful/other games after, or just end early as we started early.

Would you folks still be able to make it?

(P.S. I've decided we're gonna play SotC first, then normal ICO, with ICO New Game Plus stuff saved for some other time. To go into more details about why would be spoiling things a little.)
