FINALLY get to publish my DC/Invincible crossover fic on @glimmerfics!
MC is put in a very awkward position when she goes from the Joker's latest victim, to having a brand new viltrumite roomie when Sinister falls from a portal in the sky and inadvertently rescues her.
Especially when one of Gotham's favorite sons decides to investigate the mysterious meta who fell out of the sky and ripped the Joker's head clean off his shoulders.
**NSFW, INVINCIBLE UNIVERSE CROSS-OVER**
**WARNINGS:** Extreme Violence and Gore (not done to MC)
It was a normal day in Gotham—and by *nor
Inspired by my friend's DC/Invincible Crossover set in the Invincible universe, Grayson Vs. Grayson.
I was scouting for dogs today and I found a litter of 3 kittens!!! They were looking quite hungry... since i don't have much experience with cats, I gave them baby food to eat. Sorry for the atrocious picture quality, they were a bit scared so I had to zoom to get a click.
Hi really loving Feeding Strays, you’re absolutely feeding the masses with Invincible content and now DC too. I wonder though how does Sinister’s character profile differ from Hey There Neighbor? I’m assuming a lot cause he was trapped in the desert dimension which I assume his counterpart wasn’t in Angstrom being killed before he could do so to him and the other variants. I’m assuming he suffers from nightmares and anxiety attacks? I just want to take care of my pookie and treat him right. 😭
It doesn't have as many changes as you'd THINK (BOTH versions of him remember being considered a hero in his evil bizarro homeworld. It hasn't come up much in Neighbor, but Sinister's BIGGEST insecurity is that outside of his home world, he's about as far from a hero as a person can get). The main changes are in the wasteland, of course, but also he doesn't have the bonds with the other variants.
In Neighbor, Sinister is looking out for the other variants, he has a best friend (Lensless).
In Feeding Strays, he FAILED to protect the other variants. He didn't expect to be the last man standing, after all. The cannibalism decision was meant to help at least SOME of them survive... but only he and Mohawk survived (and Mohawk didn't survive because of him, but in spite of him).
Stray!Sinister is only further traumatized by that additional year alone in the wasteland before the multiverse itself spits him out into Gotham. He survived a full year without food or water, and it didn't even start eating away his muscles... and that made him realize that he made the others EAT EACH OTHER for absolutely nothing.
He can't even go completely insane and lose track of his situation, because viltrumites don't do that (they spend so much time totally alone in space, I doubt they have the capacity to completely lose their minds after just a few years isolation).
So he's had to sit with the fact that under his leadership, all the other variants died.
Stray!Sinister has also literally never had a friend in his life (he isn't friends with Lensless in this continuity, since in my "Trapped in the Main Universe" AUs, they become friends AFTER getting trapped).
Stray!Sinister has also had his pride totally shattered.
He latched onto MC so tightly because she's quite literally the only person other than his father to ever show him kindness. He's also got absolutely nothing else going for him.
WAIT hold on, the idea of Sinister spending time around Clark, him taking a bit of a mentor role for him, and talking with him about being the last aliens who grew up on Earth made me a bit emotional holy shit.
Because, like you told us, your version of Sinister does want to be a hero, but due to growing up in a world where everything was just more EVIL, and having been put through absolute hell by his father (who, despite actually loving his son, still felt like he had to tough him up enough so he wouldn't get slaughtered) and even if he's considered the best hero of his world, he's still seen as the 'worst of the worst' everywhere else.
And IDK but the idea of Sinister finding in Clark that SOMEONE who's actually willing to go past his superficial personality, understanding that he does want to be a hero and that a lot of his behaviors are the product of his upbringing and of the environment he grew up with, and even empathize with him over the loneliness of being the last sons of a dead alien race... Yeah It makes me a bit emotional 😭
But please note that i understand that their relationship will not be all sunshine and rainbows, cause lets be real a lot of Sinister's behaviors will NOT fly with Clark, especially initially, and Clark can and will put his foot down whenever necessary because... lets be real its still Sinister we're talking about, he's gonna have to change a lot😭. BUT idk its kinda nice too see that Sinister is in a universe thats overall a lot kinder that his original one, and where he actually has the chance to change and become closer to the hero he wants to be.
(I went on a longass tangent for a fic thats not even out LMAOOOO im sorry its just such and interesting idea 😭)
YOU GET IT 💖💖💖
Sinister lucked out in falling into the universe where the bad guys rarely actually die, and where most people strong enough to take him down happen to be the type that don’t kill.
Spoilers under cut
Sinister is going to HATE Clark at first, because he fully does not understand why Clark stops him from slaughtering villains (with the caveat that with Sinister, there is a sliding scale on what he sees as “a villain” once big threats are dead. Man LOVES killing, so he’s got to be babysat to make sure he’s not making excuses to kill someone who genuinely SHOULDN’T be killed. So while villains like Atomic Skull should probably be okay to get Sinister’d, it gets a little more iffy if he rips off say… The Penguin’s head. Falcone’s head. Some random jaywalker’s head). It also bothers him that Clark is strong enough to STOP HIM, because Sinister himself is crazy strong—the strongest person in his own universe by a large margin (on some level, this becomes somewhat comforting to him, because he feels a lot less… other when he’s not the big fish in a small pond. It feels less like everything is on him.
With DC universe logic, NONE of the heroes would want to let him kill, because he does NOT have a line between “villain who should probably die for the safety of the globe” and “random villain goon Sinister feels he has an excuse to butcher” (he didn’t kill the Joker to save anyone on purpose, he killed the Joker because he hadn’t eaten in over a year and the clown was the closest meat. He doesn’t even realize that he was surrounded by people until a few bites in when MC thanks him for killing the Joker).
The lesson Clark and Bruce will be trying to instill in him upon understanding that he’s the way he is both through his upbringing and trauma, but also darkness unique his universe that he can’t ever change, will be, “You will never be good, but you can choose to do good.” He can’t change what he is, but he’s in control of his own actions.
(Also Lex Luthor is shitting himself, because Viltrumites obviously don’t have Kryptonian weaknesses. Bruce’s contingency plan for Sinister is Clark, but Luthor is COMPLETELY screwed if he pisses off Sinister… by say… going after Clark after Sinister has decided that he’s family.)
The though of Clark holding Sinister down is somehow so funny to me, like when your dealing with a rowdy pet and you basically, just,,, put them in air jail while they trash around 😭
I couldn’t resist
When Bonus Dad #2 who’s actually stronger than you (when there’s a sun) won’t let you SLAUGHTER villains, so you B I T E
Sinister to Clark: YOU'RE MY DAD NOW! (joking LMAO)
MEANWHILE BRUCE HAS THE ADOPTION PAPERS READY BECAUSE SINISTER HAS DEAD PARENTS, TRAUMA, A HERO COMPLEX, AND BLACK HAIR. NEVERMIND THE FACT THAT HE'S A 24 YEAR OLD MAN.
Spoilers under cut
We will actually see this universe's Nolan, and Sinister will have a real bad time with it.
