I continue to be fascinated by this round of the Alpha Male Madness poll.

Yes, I have a huge celeb crush on Bob Morley. If I met him I’d probably turn bright red and then stutter and then run away and then cry.

That said, the first Outlander book came out in 1991 (when I was three). I probably started reading the series when I was thirteen. And I’ve awaited every new Diana Gabaldon title with white knuckled anticipation, ever since. When the Outlander TV show was announced, I flipped my shit. The whole fandom did. And it’s been better than I could have imagined. It sticks rigidly to the books, but seems to suffer no negative consequences for doing so. The script is amazing. The actors are amazing. They have consulted Diana every step of the way.

On the other hand, I’ve been a fan of the 100 for a several months now. A rabid fan, no doubt, but the material (both book and show) is new, the fandom is new, and I am relatively new to the fandom.

So as much as I love Bob Morley (desperately) I’ve been voting for Sam Heughan.

And all I can think about is what will happen if Sam Heughan wins the entire poll. Not just this round, but the next one, as well. Everyone who has been ignoring the Outlander fandom all this time will have to acknowledge us. Think of the “think pieces.” I want to read the Daily Dot think piece on why Outlander won. I want to read the Mary Sue think piece on why Outlander won. I can’t even tell you how much I want that. Or exactly why I want it.

The outlander fandom doesn’t look like many others. It’s largely older (huge generalization, but with truth to it) and it resides more significantly on Diana Gabaldon’s Facebook page than on tumblr or Twitter. It has an epic history. There are eight books in the main Outlander series, so far, and each book is hundreds of pages long. For decades, there have been “annual tea parties with the author” and convention appearances. However, as it’s an older historical fantasy series with a largely female audience, the series has never had the same traction in nerd culture that other series have. Its legacy is entwined with the history of the romance novel, though none of the books after the first are remotely romance novels. (EVERY time you see a romance novel with a highlander on the cover, you’re seeing the legacy of Outlander. Outlander started that trend in the early ‘90’s.) Its cross-genre appeal has been its biggest marketing stumbling block. Nonetheless, the fandom has quietly flourished. There are hundreds of thousands of us, and we’ve been at it for decades. Additionally, we’re a living fandom. The most recent book was released this past year, and the series isn’t close to finished yet, never mind the new and wonderful TV show.

But Outlander has been largely ignored by other fandoms and most of current fandom culture. Every time I see a post about this poll, it reads, “who is Sam Heughan” or “wtf is Outlander.”

Outlander is legion. And I just wanted you to know. Just like any fangirl wants to share their joy and passion for their favorite thing. I just wanted you all to know.

Venus

Okay, that episode of Sailor Moon gave me a lot more feels than an episode that is essentially just exposition should.   It really did.

I just have a lot of V-chan feels.  She feels like she's met them all because she trained them through the video game, but none of them know her.  Telling everyone what a good job they've all done, because she's the leader and that's what she does.  She has her mission to fulfill that only she can do.  Constantly calling out for Sailor Moon during the battle, because she knows Usagi is the real princess, but she can't break her cover to try to protect Usagi like she needs to to tell the others to leave her and go to Usagi.  The others saying that she can rely on them, but how you can see that she doesn't believe them, not until they come to the Tower, because she's done everything else on her own until now and she still needs to protect them.  The fact that she remembers everything, even when no one else does, and how incredibly lonely that must be.

"Please don't do this, Kunzite.  Your true self is..."

Seriously, that last one killed me.  I can't.  You are finally giving me my OTP and destroying it at the same time.  Also, yay for no douche-y Kunzite that I see so often in fanfic!  Sorry, douche-y Kunzite who thinks women are lesser and not worthy opponents bothers me.  I had a lot of feels from him in the manga, and everyone wrote the vilified douche from the anime who apparently thought females were beneath him because of a few stereotypical misogynistic villain speeches.  Like, couldn't we just go with a normal Kunzite when he's not being brainwashed and evil?  Nope.  He's still misogynistic even when he's a good guy.  >.<  Though really, anime, he's serving Queen Beryl, so he can't be that against women when he's okay with one calling the shots.

It was just a trope that annoyed me.

But back to the feels.  So many feels.

And for some non-Minako feels, Usagi seeing that Mamoru was alright because he'd come to save her gave me feels.  The fact that she knew she couldn't go and check and the best way to save him if he was down would be to keep going also gave me feels.  Then that whole speech about how it was dangerous and Mamo-chan should run away and she'd take care of things and kissing him, because she's a girl and she's allowed to kiss the boy she likes while telling him she's okay because she doesn't need protecting is amazing.  Also, the fact that Mamoru is left like, 'damn, she's strong and dedicated today.  I'm just going to fall in love with her more' is beautiful.  

Then the ending happened.

*blasts My Only Love throughout her apartment*

Also, Minako's transformation was awesome.  Like, the others kind of had that terrible animation quality feel, but this one looked good.  Or maybe I'm just biased.

One final note, you can say all you like about how horrible the animation quality is (and get no qualms from me, because it is terrible), but the fact that they look flat chested when they're not senshi and just normal girls really does mean a lot to me.  Yay for not sexualizing 14 year old girls!

Today a new World Cup starts. As soon as the ball kick for Brazil x Croatia, the last match of a World Cup won't be from South Africa anymore. It's the last and official goodbye to 2010 World Cup. I'd like to say thanks again to South Africa, for hosted the best WC i had ever lived. I made this post because that competition was really important for me, it made me get REALLY into football, not only watch World Cups like i used to do. It developed my passion for this sport, that now is completing 4 years, and I am forever grateful to it. And I now it also happened with lots of people here from tumblr.

So, now it's Brazil turn. As a brazilian, i really hope my country host an AMAZING WC. But South Africa's one will have forever a special place in my heart.

So, goodbye South Africa, thank you! And HELLO BRAZIL! WE EXPECT A LOT OF YOU!

He stood by her grave, flowers in one hand and the handle of a stroller in the other. After he placed the red roses down he picked up Lilith, cradling her gently as she slept. "I'm so sorry!" Michael said, rushing to grab gauze and disinfectants. He was trying to get the nursery together and knocked Summer into the dresser, which ended up cutting her arm.

He returned and immediately started to dress the wound. He didn't glance at his fiance, but somehow knew she was staring at him with an amused smile. Finally, once it was cleaned and covered, he looked up at her. "What?"

"Nothing," She responded "I just find it really cute when you do that."
