I need new trail shoes. Mine are over a year old and have hole in the sole that lets in sand. I got a big blister because of it last time I hiked. It makes me super sad. I love those shoes. Most comfortable shoes I’ve owned. New Balance MT10. Too bad I cannot find them for less than ~$100 anymore. I got my pair for about $60. Ugh. I hate money.
I wish Vivobarefoot still made Neos. I hate their trail shoes with the big lugs. I like the small knobs instead.
I did get a nice pair of waterproof/insulated and most importantly, minimal, winter hikers. I am super excited to see how they do. I feel like a company out of Finland should be able to make a good winter boot.

Mt. Lukens Barefoot in the Snow

Erwan Le Corre and I climbed the highest mountain within the city limits of Los Angeles, Mt. Lukens at 5074 feet, on the 10th. About halfway up we found ourselves in the snow...barefoot. We continued on to the summit barefoot and shirtless. After a break at the summit, we dressed warmer, put on our FeelMax Niesa footwear and headed down. About 3 hours and 30 minutes. 8.8 miles round trip.

Howdy Folks I am testing out a new shoe from a family owned company in Finland called FeelMax. See www.feelmax.com (not yet available in the USA) UPDATE 12/08/09, NOW AVAILABLE IN THE USA, CLICK HERE I have the latest version shipped to me directly from their factory in Thailand. I am VERY impressed with this shoe and will be writing more in the coming weeks. The version I have has a 1 mm thick sole made out of a Kevlar impregnated material developed by Continental for FeelMax. Amazing stuff. Mine are VERY easy to get on and off. The feeling is amazingly close to barefoot. 1mm sole is very thin and very durable. Happy. BFT PS. Read more here.
