Gared is hesitant in his speech, not sure whether Finnwould actually come out and say such a thing whilst being fully serious. It seems strange, really, becausethe boy has never once believed that the man held anygenuine interest in anything even remotely related toa relationship. Still, it's clear that there's a smalltwinge of hope in his voice, despite it being almostdrown out; he's prepared to laugh it off as a joke inany moment from then.
