She had tried to stay awake. Really, she had, but with Kaden gone and the lack of her own body heat, her body was...forced to slow down...and...

Forcing her eyes open, she shook her head a bit and shivered. She needed to stay awake.

"...Kaden...I shouldn't have...please hurry..."

The shivering didn't stop the remaining chill from lulling her again. Then the fire was so bright that she shut her eyes, and the crackling was so calming that she couldn't help but relax...

"Ar...dy to...ack to...st?"

...what...was that?

Noticing the state you were in he was shocked. He immediately rushed to you and tried to help you warm back up "Oh-! I knew I shouldn't have left you so soon!" but you sounded so confident he didn't think you'd be put in such a state... He felt guilty regardless and tried to do what he did last time.

"We'll stay by the fire for a while longer and then I'll carry you to the rest so we can finally get out of here" he couldn't just take you outside now.

She wasn't going to like it, but that didn't matter. The others needed help!

"I can handle myself. You should go check on the others. After all, I don't think anyone will suddenly find interest in this random cave."

"And," she calmed herself from her more frantic state, "I promise to stay by the fire."

The cold within her wrapped itself her body as she and Kaden separated. Curling her knees to her chest, she watched him head to the cave entrance.

"Stay alive," she whispered.

"You too" he smiles before leaving. He rushed back to the ice tribe and it seemed like the battle was almost over. He helped the others and had seen Flora's final moments... He didn't knew how to tell you about it... But he had to go back to you regardless since everyone was getting out of there.

After entering the cave he was silent for a moment but he tried to play it cool "Are you ready to go back to the rest?"

It never felt like I got enough time with Flora, in my games. Everything would end before I got to know her well enough.

It hurt too much to think about, but...

"She's the only one with the answer to that."

She never opened her eyes, "I don't want to speculate. I don't want to trick myself into thinking she cared for me when she really didn't, or into thinking she didn't care for me at all when maybe she did."

"There's just fact. She tried to kill me directly, then she hesitated and chose not to. I would have died to her cold regardless if it weren't for you."

She leaned into him a bit more, "And now we're here, and for all I know my friends are all fighting through their pain on the battlefield while I'm in here."

Her eyes flew open in panic as she faced Kaden, "Am I a deserter, Kaden? This isn't what I meant to do- I wasn't thinking clearly."

She began moving to get up, "I- we've got to go back, right? Agh, I'm so stupid! What did I think? That I was the only one suffering?"

I know right!? If we got to know her better that chapter would made such an impact!!

"Hey hold on now! You can't go back there. I won't let you!" he didn't sound angry but rather upset due to how you thought of your safety. And insulting yourself didn't make him any less worried "I know you might be feeling a little guilty, you definitely weren't the only one suffering. Still, going back there when you're still far from okay will only set back not only you, but also those who'll have to help you" of course there is force when attacking in a pack, but adding someone already wounded puts everyone at greater disadvantage.

"Just please don't feel bad for wanting to stay alive... If it'll make you feel better I could go there and help them out but you have to stay here by the fire" assuming the fight isn't over, he definitely could go. You could now independently continue to fight the cold, but having him definitely helps by a ton and first few minutes without him could be tough.

"...I don't know. At this point, I just hope everyone is okay."

She hugged herself a little tighter, "I know that's not possible, though. Flora has never been the type to go down easy when she's convinced she's in the right. I just wish there was a way..."

Her eyes found the fire again for a moment, using the brightness of the fire to wake herself up momentarily.

"But there's not. And I can't afford to be that stubborn. There's so much I still need to do, and I won't be held back."

Finally, she shut her eyes and allowed the tension to ease out of her body completely. A different type of cold was setting in.

"I just can't believe she tried to kill me that quickly. She wouldn't even talk to me first- it's like I didn't know her at all!"

As you described how you felt he felt bad for you. She did look determined and he honestly wanted to take you away from her sooner but then he remembered something "If she was really set on killing you then why didn't she do anything when you got close and even hugged her?" he hoped that bringing it up would help you see it from a different perspective. Of course it didn't change much but maybe enough for you to feel a little better.

"Well, you se-em to be helping s-so far."

She inhaled sharply through her teeth as she did her best to shift. Her legs were drawn into her body, and she had her back against Kaden as her front faced the fire. Now, the numbness wouldn't linger due to something like her body being in a strange position.

Besides, she could rest against Kaden and envelop herself completely in his warm fur.

Her eyelids began to droop, and she tried to stifle her shivering so as to stay closer to Kaden. She had noticed that whenever she moved too much, he would detach from her a moment and air would be let in. If she tried extremely hard, maybe she wouldn't shiver, meaning that wouldn't happen.

"Do you think..." she directed her gaze to the exit of their location, eyes heavy, "...that they've finished the battle, yet?"

That chapter was so heartbreaking tho

He feels relieved that he had helped so far. Of course he promised himself to not let you fall, so there was no way he'd give up even if his attempts weren't effective yet.

When you look at the entrance he glances there as well "I don't know... If they're done they might be looking for us" at least Corrin for sure wouldn't leave you behind.

"But how are you holding on... With everything that happened...?" he was talking about your mental state of course. He still recalls your fight with Flora...

She didn't respond, just continuing to look into his eyes while shifting her head ever so slightly every once in awhile.

The longer she sat there with him, the more her numbness seemed to transform into that sparking sensation. That in turn gave way to freezing cold spreading across her body as her limbs and nerves began to wake.

The violent shivering returned, and she turned in on herself.

"H-have I really been this c-cold the whole ti-ime?"

Now that the mental illusion of heat was gone, she only felt the tingling and the frigid temperature her body had become. Moving anything felt weird, strenuous, and almost painful. She couldn't even try to move her fingers without the pins-and-needles becoming more prominent. Her larger limbs were worse.

She moved her head in minute motions, took deeper breaths, shut her eyes and opened them...anything to feel something different.

"Ah, it's so...I can't...move- I can't do anyth- why is this worse than being numb?"

Tears she couldn't feel pricked at her eyes, but at least this meant her condition was improving, in some warped sense. Eventually, the shivering would go down and she would be warm again. For now though, she just kept herself as still as was possible with the incessant shivering.

It was frustrating to see you in such pain without being able to do much about it. At least it meant that you were getting better but you still he just wanted to make that pain disappear in an instant.

"It looks like you were this cold, but like I promised I'll help you!" he noticed how you didn't want to move so he made sure to be still too.

Watching the flames with Kaden's fox fur enveloping her, she felt as though she was practically overheating.

"Too warm..." for once her willpower wasn't enough to keep herself from pushing away from him and the fire. Not that it mattered, seeing how Kaden was able to lightly pull her back in before she could register what was happening.

Her breathing became a bit more labored from the perceived heat, but it would all be better soon. She could already feel the numbness in certain parts of her body turning to that tingling, sparkling feeling that meant her body was waking itself up.

But that just made those parts of her body feel frigid, and in her ambivalence she unconsciously pressed a little further into Kaden's fur.

When Kaden asked her to look at him, she took a moment to tear her eyes from the fire and turned her head toward him. She was close enough to make out the individual flecks of brown and orange in his eyes. The hues of the fire's glow seemed to bring out each color. It all complimented his hair and fur so well, and-

"You're so beautiful."

It's working for my motivation but it also distracts me a lot at the same time!

When you said you were feeling warmer he felt glad... Even if it was too warm. It only meant that it was working. Although perhaps at a little faster pace than he thought.

But when you complied to his request and called him beautiful he had a smug smile on his face "Of course I am hehe, glad you can see that" at least your vision wasn't playing any tricks on you. Through his confidence he could feel a little flustered. Not that you'd see that, his cheeks were a little red either way due to the cold.
