Crystal Liu Yifei is officially going to play Disney's live action Mulan, what do you think?

Say a major Chinese film company wants to make a movie about Susan B. Anthony, originally they want to choose a Chinese actress to play this role but after some outcry against “Asian washing", they finally went alone with a white actress. And out of ALL the capable and talented actress in US, they choose Megan Fox.

Yes, she's pretty and sexy. Sure, she had been in some pretty major productions. Sure, you can say she's an international star.

But she literally CAN NOT ACT!!!

Sure, if the movie is like another Transformer, or B horror flick or sitcom Romance, Fine, whatever, choose the brainless sexy girl with big boobs and full lips but absolutely can not act. I don't care.

No. It's not that. We're talking about a historical feminist fucking icon! Can't we at least… get someone with an academy nomination under their belt? Like I don't know, Scarlett Johansson is better than Megan Fox!

That's what Liu Yi Fei is. China's Megan Fox. She's pretty, she's lovely, she has the quintessential “Chinese" look, literally millions of horny teenagers jerk-off with her pictures. I get that part. On top of that, She's an American citizen. She spend her teenager years in the US, so she can speak good English. She looks great on paper (in fact she did a lot of commercials), a famous Chinese American famous actress who can speak English. Except…

She. Can. Not. Act. She can't fucking act! SHE. CAN’T ACT!

Seriously? Who the fuck is your casting manager Disney? Did you do a simple google search of “pretty Chinese actress between age of 17 to 35 and pick the first one popping out?

I mean…I actually did a google search:

And the first link, first actual Chinese actress in China on that list is Liu Yi Fei.

That's as much research they did for this role.

I'm happy that they pick an actual Chinese person to play this role. But at this point, I'm not really looking forward to this movie. Because I know exactly what I'll get, Liu's trademark “face paralysis” acting and in every scene she looks either angry or constipated.

Also, Liu is 30 years old. When Mulan supposed to join the military, she's probably a teenager (no more than 20 years old), she stayed in the military for 10 years (according to the original poem), and when she's finished and return home, she's probably at most early 30s.

In other words, Liu being 30 years old is too old for this role.
