“You made it!” My cheeks hurt from smiling so hard, relief coursing through me. If I didn’t know better, I’d say I had summoned them. Maybe I did? I certainly wanted to badly enough.

Is it even possible to unconsciously summon a human being? Until I know otherwise, I’m not ruling it out.

“It’s unlikely. Previous summoners have described their early trials as magically draining and… messy.”

Well, I don’t feel magically drained, so that’s that. Wait… messy? Feirge sends me mental images of what looks like—Oh. Oh, Gods, that… that’s an animal?! “Why does it look like it’s inside-out?!”

“Because it is.”

Dragon Week: October 14th-20th

Dragon Week prompts! Make sure to tag @empyreanevents and use #dragonweek2025, or use the AO3 collection. As always, prompts are open to interpretation.

Day 1: Threshing | We were able to witness Threshing through Violet’s eyes, but what about the others? Was it love at first sight? Did the cadet have to prove themselves? It’s up to you!

Day 2: Mates | We know that Sgaeyl and Tairn are mates. What aspects of their relationship do we not see? Or, what if they weren’t the only ones? How would that change things?

Day 3: Lore | Dragons hoard their secrets like treasure. What theories do you have about The Empyrean? Who fought on Tyrrendor’s side in the war? What could the Irids have meant about the dragons being corrupt?

Day 4: Hatchlings | Hatchlings and feathertails are fiercely protected by the dragons so we don’t know much about them. What do you think it’s like inside the den with a hatchling or feathertail? What if our favorite dragons became parents?

Day 5: Elders | The elders are the ones who make the decisions inside their den. For example, we know that Codagh allowed Andarna to bond with Violet. What other roles do the elders play? Do they gather everyone around for stories? Teach the younger ones how to fight and fly?

Day 6: Relationships | The good, the bad, and the ugly. Whose friends and who are enemies? What’s the story behind Tairn and Codagh? Did everyone have problems with Solas? Was Tairn Deigh’s only friend present that fateful day?

Day 7: Free Day | Canon or AU, the freedom is yours!
