Calypso's POV

It's always exciting tow work with Thundercat. Especially when I am not the one training her usually. Usually it's my younger sister Athena who works her. BUT Athena got the flu, and so I suddenly have two more horses to work with!

These days Mom and Momma are babysitting my niece Silva. Mostly because my big brother Will will begin working here at Briarwood Oaks, and he needs someone to take my clingy niece sometimes. So even if Mom and Momma are busy they can always do the instructing with little Silva on their arm.

That little kid has always been interested in horses, and so she was today as well. Momma Feline brought her over to Thundercat and me, when I had finished my round of training.

"I wanna do what Auntie does!" The small girl squealed while reaching out for Thundercat.

Feline's eyes met mine, and I just nodded. After all Thundercat is a mostly calm mare, so having a small toddler on her back would be a small feat.

"Let's go get your helmet, shall we?" Feline said as Silva pressed a sloppy kiss to her grandma's cheek.

Soon after they were back. Or Silva was at least. Feline had some things to do, so Mom Hera was with the little girl now wearing a helmet.

"Up up!" she laughed as I lifted her onto Thundercat's back and into the saddle.

I was of course holding the reins at all times, while Mom walked by Silva's side making sure she didn't fall off.

After that short 'pony-ride' she wanted her dad, and Will was more than willing to take over his daughter, so she could have a nap in the staff room while everyone else was working.

Afterwards, while grooming Thundercat I talked to mom. She was still talking about opening up for lessons - possibly aqquiering a few lesson horses/ponies - and of course I supported her on that.

THE TEAM

Briarwood Oaks Equestrian is owned and run by Calypso Cole and her fiance - and other family members, including her mom (Hera) and step-mom (Feline) who has stepped down as stable owners, and mostly act as instructors for the staff when needed. The other staff members are mostly family, including her siblings (younger and older) and their partners and/or kids.

The stable is focused on breeding, and has a partnership going with Echo International Jumpers from whom they borrow stallions to breed. The deal in these cases are clear: If the mare births a filly, then BOE pays EJ and keeps the foal. If the mare births a colt, then EJ pays BOE and gets the foal. Outside stallions is of course used as well, as any non-female foal will either be sold off to EJ or to other stables.

And even if the stable is focused on the breeding (with a total of 6 broodmares) it's always busy here. All horses of a certain age (5 yo+) are taken to horse shows to compete, since competing is mostly Calypso's passion, while her mothers are more interesting in the breeding aspect of owning a stable. They mostly compete in Show Jumping or Conformation shows, but will sometimes be seen at Eventing or Dressage shows as well.
