This Isn't Height Or Size Accurate (& The Poses/Anatomy Might Be A Bit Fucked Up) But It's Funny Anyways
Original Picture Below:
The 'not our cat' is now 'our cat'...
Whiskey on Ice watching the vet do her work. He is now microchipped and registered, started his vaccination schedule and is booked in to be neutered in two weeks (smack bang between vaccines today and those in 4 weeks!)
He did not appreciate the cat carrier AT ALL however he didn't yowl and cry during the short drive, just sulked silently and then tried to break free, hurting his nose in the process and making his nose bleed.
4.65kg and about a year old. Now to teach him how to use the cat door - he's pretty quick on the uptake of following the other cats, in that he'll stand on his hind legs to gently take a treat from my fingers or get head/chin scratches.
And he charmed the vet and started purring, so that tracks with all our previous cats being very chilled out with the vet.
We (as a family), have never had a proper lapcat and Whiskey is filling that gap like a pro. We love all our cats and their quirks but this wee guy is demanding and a sweetheart with it.
For those of you that are new, let me introduce our four cats (in case you were under the impression the new cat was our only cat).
Teapot of Earl Grey - she came with the house when we bought it 11 years ago and is now a distinguished lady of 17 years. She doesn't suffer fools (aka cats younger than her) willingly. She has the LOUDEST purr out of all our cats and has a little piece of fur on her head that grows in the wrong direction and is like a mini mohawk. She has a special diet and was dumped in a nearby park which is close to where we live*. When we took her to the vets we found she was microchipped, but all the mobile numbers were no longer in service. So she became ours (and we had two cats when we moved in).
Beauty Spot Socks - she is a petite wee six year old who loves 'helping' make beds, doesn't meow or purr very much but will growl when she believes it is necessary, usually when another cat enters her personal space. She loves sleeping under the covers regardless of the season. She also will go on her hind legs for treats and pats. She's cute and she knows it.
Te Ka - named by the same child who named Teapot, this 5 year old male cat is named after the lava demon in the Moana movie. He can be very affectionate if there is food involved, or if his human is away. Otherwise he embodies the lava demon namesake and I affectionately call him 'shit head'. He routinely catches rats and brings them inside. He sleeps ON his human at night, and sulks when he goes away.
Whiskey on Ice - the newest and youngest addition. He turned up 4 weeks ago, and we started feeding him. He likes humans, meows A LOT and is now 'ours' as much as a cat can be owned when they sometimes seem to have disdain for the entire human race. He likes warm cozy spaces and chin scratches and is better behaved than any of our other cats when it comes to flea and worm treatments. His current life challenge is figuring out the cat door.
We used to have three other cats, Druss the Legend, Shadow the Hunter (leaves and the neighbours' gardening gloves were what she regularly caught...) and Spot the Climber. They have all passed over the rainbow bridge now.
*We know it wasn't the previous owners of the house, as we bought my childhood home from my father, who called her 'Puss'.
Socks (the black and white cat), Shadow (tabby with a milk mustache) and Te Ka (the slinky tabby dealing with teenage angst?)
At lunch time I go and search for the cats to demand that they let me pat them...
