The company car pulls up to the departure drop off at the airport and you hop out of the car to help Felix with his bag. He has a Louis Vuitton event and will be in Paris for a few days. As both you and Felix step out of the car, your daughter, Rina, starts whining from her carseat. “Hey, sunshine,” Felix reaches in and unbuckles her, “It’s okay. Eomma is just helping with my bag.” He places her on his hip and she happily snuggles into his neck. Felix hugs her closer, his hand stroking her hair, “Oh I’m gonna miss my snuggles.”
“It’s only a few days. You’ll be back in no time.” You hug him, squishing Rina between you two and Felix takes a moment to just breathe his family in. He pulls back a bit to look at you.
“I’m gonna miss you too,” He says, placing a soft kiss on your lips. You melt into him, gently kissing him back. You could live in this moment forever, but Rina is impatient. You feel her tiny hands press against both of your faces, as if trying to push each other apart. Felix just laughs, his deep voice vibrating Rina, “Someone’s a little jealous. Don’t worry, I’ve got plenty of kisses for you too.” He peppers kisses all over her face causing her to giggle.
“Excuse me,” the driver calls to you, “I don’t mean to be a killjoy, but they won’t let me sit here forever.”
Felix sighs before placing one last kiss on Rina’s cheek and your lips, “I guess that’s my cue.”
“Go on before you miss your flight.” You reach to take Rina from him, but as you wrap your hands around her waist she squeals. “Come on baby. It’s time to go.”
She clenches her fist onto Felix’s shirt and starts screeching as you try to pull her away. Felix gently pries her hands off of his shirt so that you can hold her and tears start streaming down her face. “Appa!” She reaches towards Felix, her tiny voice cracking with sobs. She has the same big boba eyes as Felix making her look even more pitiful when she is sad. As she sniffles, taking in shaky breaths, Felix feels like his heart is being ripped out.
“Can’t you walk me in?”
You shake your head, “The driver can’t wait here that long.”
“But it’ll only take a minute.” He looks at you with sad eyes, forcing you to stare down two pairs of pleading boba eyes. You weren’t originally planning to walk him in because you never know who is waiting around in the airport and having a small child makes the possibility of ambush infinitely more terrifying, but looking between your crying daughter and almost crying husband it’s hard to say no. “Fine.” You look at the driver, “Can you make a loop? We’ll only be a minute.” He nods before driving off to make a loop around. You hand Rina back to Felix which instantly calms her down. She stuffs her little face into his shirt, a content sigh leaving her lips. “Come on, let’s be quick.” You grab Felix’s bag before heading into the airport.
Luckily, there doesn’t seem to be that many people around who recognize him. Maybe having a kid is a turn off for mobs. You walk with Felix to check in, Rina happily against him the whole time. He goes to check his bag and as he pulls out his passport, Rina tries to grab it and put it in her mouth. Felix quickly snatches it away, “Nope. That is not edible. That passport has been a lot of places. Who knows how many germs there are.” She huffs at him for taking away her chew toy, but gets over it pretty quickly. Once he has his ticket, you walk with him over to security, stopping right outside the line.
“Okay, time to go for real this time.” You reach out the grab her but Felix turns away.
“Hold on. Let me cuddle a little longer.”
“Felix, you can’t hold her forever.”
“I didn’t say forever. I just said a little longer.”
You roll your eyes, but let him take a moment. He hugs her close, nuzzling his face closer to hers. For a minute he just sits there, swaying slightly back and forth as he holds her close. Then he kisses her head, “I’m gonna miss you.” Kisses her cheek. “My little sunshine.” Kisses her nose. “Appa loves you very much.” And with one last squeeze he steps closer to you in order to hand her off. “Okay, take her before I end up buying a second ticket just for her.”
You snort, “You do not want to travel alone with a baby, trust me.” You reach to take her and she once again screeches as you pull her from Felix’s grasp. You manage to get her in your arms, despite her fighting against your hold. She makes grabby hands towards Felix, “Appa!”
“I’m sorry baby, but Appa has to go.” He blows her a kiss, not trusting her or himself to get any closer. “But I promise I’ll be back so soon. I love you so much.” He slowly starts backing up towards security as you try to calm Rina down. Her wailing echoes through the airport, drawing some attention and sympathetic looks. Felix keeps his eyes on you both for as long as he can, blowing kisses the entire time. Once he is finally out of sight, you go back to the car that is making its way back around, Rina now more upset than ever.
“I know baby.” You gently bounce her up and down as you rub soothing circles on her back, “I’m gonna miss him too, but he’ll be back before you know it.” She stuffs her face in your shirt, her little sobs vibrating against your shoulder. She doesn’t stop crying the entire way home and you feel terrible for your driver. By the time you make it home and get her upstairs to your apartment, she has cried so hard she tuckered herself out. As you pull her out of the carrier, she lets out a big yawn, a tiny whimper following it. “Aw, my sweet baby. I think it’s time for a nap.” You go to put her down to bed and she immediately reaches for her Bbokari plush, curling tight around it. With a tiny sigh, she squeezes her plush tighter and falls asleep. Of course you take a picture of her asleep with her Bbokari and send it to Felix.
As he is about to board the plane, he receives your text. Opening it, he see’s the picture of Rina cuddling Bbokari and feels his heart melt. He sends back a quick message
My sweet girl 🥺 give her lots of snuggles from me and I’ll be back as soon as I can.
We’ll be waiting 🥰
