💘x3 (random headcanon/fact about any three characters of your choosing!)
Send me “💘” for a fact about a muse's love life
TURBO LATE BCS MOVING GOMEN
💘: Lev has no love life to speak of, and that's perfectly fine with him. He prefers spending his time alone, and when your found family just cannot seem to stop multiplying, having a bit of time to yourself is the best cure for exhaustion. He's not entirely opposed to the idea of dating, but it's so so far down his priority list or hierarchy of needs that he's not actively seeking anything out. If it falls into his lap, so be it.
💘: Felix wound up ghosting his former boyfriend back in Ishgard when he just ran off to the Observatory in Coerthas. It was an entirely spur of the moment, impulse choice and in hindsight he regrets not saying anything, but he also felt he couldn't trust anybody to not tell his location to his family. He was toying with the idea of moving in with him to escape, but instead just made the snap decision to get as far away as he could to somewhere where he could study what he wanted in peace. (It didn't work out that way)
💘: Leomaunt has had a handful of 'lovers'. Most ended after one or two nights. While he tells himself it was just how he was, someone who wasn't interested in love, or how he was just protecting them from his reputation and legacy, none of that is true. Leo was too starved for love and touch that it scared him, and his reaction was to push everyone away and isolate harder, even going so far as to refuse touch by wearing gloves whenever he could to avoid it. The man wanted love so badly his entire life that he didn't know what to do once he tasted the distilled version.
Lone child of a midborn family trying to claw its way up the ranks of Ishgardian society, Felix's path in life was set for him before he was even born. However he found no joy in the art of socializing or arranged marriages, his eyes and heart fixed firmly upon the night skies and the outlawed art of the Astrologians; divining and drawing power from the stars and their aether. Teaching himself behind closed doors, Felix eventually fled south into Coerthas and holed up in the Observatorium, continuing his practises in secret and studying legal magicks to supplement his growing skills.
Perhaps this illegal studying was what gave him the ability to rend the fabric of fate itself upon the battlefield one day and throw open the gates to the seventh heaven and claw his now-husband Arleaux's life back from the Gods themselves, an unheard of act for it's almost certain risk of death, earning himself the epithet of Heavensblessed.
ok I like this one so much you get multiple answers (:
Aidan's clear turning point was when Lucian vanished. He was able to rebuild and come back after the scourge invaded Quel'Thalas - absolutely the first real turning point. It wasn't easy, but after time he could. But Lucian going to the frontlines and just... never coming back, and everyone unable to give him a clear answer on what happened? It shattered the bubble he had finally regrown after the scourge. By the time Lucian returned, he had matured and definitely lost some of that youth he still maintained.
Almari's was absolutely both meeting Arleaux, and meeting Seth. Meeting Arleaux as children and becoming as close as blood family was everything to him. Having a loving family, a comfortable living situation where he was wanted and cared for and nurtured set the course for the rest of his life. Without that, things would have turned out very differently for Almari. And meeting Seth, of course, radically changed the direction of his life as well. Almari helped to temper Seth, but Seth helped him keep his wild streak. As well as of course, Almari getting himself tangled up in Seth's familial web that stretches from Limsa to Ishgard and back.
Felix's is when he first made the leap to freedom and fled the city across Coerthas and started 'living' for himself, and not following his family's expectations of what an heir was to be. Unfortunately it wasn't a great time of change in his life, seeing as he veered right down the slippery slope that freedom provides of self-destruction. Finding Arleaux when Felix was at his lowest was a godsend, leading to them both dragging themselves out of their downward spirals for the sake of the other and living unapologetically as themselves. No longer freshly minted dragoon and a heretical astrologian, but now as the Azure Second and a well loved professor in the Firmament.
Lys's is a tough one for him, because it's also his greatest regret: Leaving Ishgard to return to the Coerthan Highlands. He's full of 'what if's about how life for him and Orphy might have changed if he had just stayed, if they had just kept what they had going. Would they still have the same hardships and traumas? Would things have been better? He doesn't want to know, the life he has now at this moment is perfect to him, but he can't help but let his mind wander from time to time.
❝ i was sort’ve hoping you needed me. is that selfish? ❞
"I was... sort’ve hoping you needed me. ...Is that selfish?"
Selfish was a word that Felix was well acquainted with.
A word that occupied the space inside his home, echoing through the halls in the voice of his parents. It was a word synonymous with his... 'choices'.
How he hated those words.
A selfish choice should've been only for the times he actually made a decision to skip lessons, or sneaking out the side doors when his parents were entertaining company in the hopes of finding a new match for their wayward and unruly son. Not used as a cutting remark about who he loves.
And yet here he was, trying his best not to let the word turn his stomach as it spilled from his lips. Willingly. Maybe this was selfish, a silly desire that the dragoon would need Felix as much as he needed him. After all, they'd spend many hours together, became close friends - and closer still, though neither one had openly acknowledged it yet.
Felix knew - somewhere, deep down - that once the words had left his lips that there was no going back from this moment, but that was a risk he was willing to take. A selfish one? But he also knew that ever since Arleaux came into his life it had never been the same. For the first time in ages Felix had stopped marking the days with empty bottles stuffed under the bed, had found something worth looking forward to, has found a reason to change.
And as he raised his blue eyes to meet two-toned oranges ones, maybe that was something worth being a little selfish over.
Teehee. 3, 9, 10, 16, 18. but #3 for Almari specifically
TEEHEE THANK U FOR ASKING :^)
LONG POST
3. What did your muse's family look like? Parents, grandparents? Big or small? Who was around the house when your muse was a kid?
Almaricoux came into his family at an odd age, being adopted absorbed into the Zuicoix household at 6. Prior to that, he grew up in one of the many, most likely chronically underfunded and under-cared for orphanages in the Brume, but was a shy and quiet child who kept to himself more often than not. Going from being alone to being part of a large, loving family was certainly an adjustment considering he now has three siblings. Thankfully for him though, the family was able to spend their time together - save for his father having to work to support them - since Almari is very big on family time now to make up for lost time.
9. What was your muse's education like? Did they go to school? Did they like it?
Fiore was made for higher education. Blazing through the standard state education, they wasted no time before diving right into the specialized magitek academy in Garlemald. Like most Garleans they're very well educated on most matters, just through the lens of state sanctioned propaganda and an extremely narrow world view. Fio is brilliant however, not only in their chosen field of magitek machinery, but in other matters as well, picking up sign language rather quickly after losing their hearing and teaching themselves the common language shared across Eorzea simply out of curiosity and whatever texts they could stumble across in the Empire's grasp. Given the opportunity, Fio would jump at the chance to return to school in somewhere like Sharlayan - or even Ishgard - to study foreign engineering.
10. What responsibilities did your muse have as a child? Chores? Babysitting? How good were they at fulfilling their responsibilities?
Alidaux was on babysitter duty when he wasn't working odd jobs, or more like babysitting was his job when growing up. Even as a youth he hard worker with a strong work ethic, and babysitting his new baby siblings was no exception. Though he would never tell anybody, he was bitter about it at the time. Being a substantial amount older than his new half-siblings (by like 10 years), he couldn't help but feel annoyed by the expectation of being babysitter, as well as jealous of the more stable upbringing they would have. However it never caused him to be negligent or slack off in his duties. Outside of babysitting, Ali grew up with chores and odd jobs like many Ishgardian children, especially those trying to pad their future resume for the Temple Knights and provide for their families. Just.. please don't make him clean any more stables.
16. If your muse could say one thing to their childhood self, what would they say? Would your muse want to meet their childhood self in the first place?
Felix would most definitely not want to meet his younger self, not at any point in time or age. If forced to, the only thing he would have to say would simply be to apologize to himself. He certainly has regrets on how he lived his life in his youth; not leaving home sooner, allowing himself to slide into alcoholism and unhealthy coping methods that only exaggerated his mental health struggles. He couldn't look at his younger self without feeling guilty for putting them through all of that, even though by the end he came out strong, sober and with a support network that won't let him fall again.
18. What's one thing that instantly transports your muse back to their childhood? Why?
The good: To him it's silly, but the feeling of being tired and having a blanket placed on top of you, or feeling someone pull the covers up around you immediately puts Leomaunt at ease and reminds him of happier times in his youth. The simpler times of feeling safe and warm under the covers and knowing someone who loves you is right there with you and cares for you.
The bad: metal doors scraping shut along stone can be enough to trigger a full on dissociation episode and he may shut down over it, and he does not want to ever explain why.
Everything was in place. The bath was drawn hot, a hearty stew bubbling away on the stovetop, a set of fresh sleep clothes hanging over the back of a chair near the flickering hearth. All that was missing was...
The low scraping of the front lock turning caught Felix's ear, the hyur practically jumping at the noise as he all but threw the ladle into the sink, rushing over to greet the other upon his return.
"Oh, Nymeia..." With a whispered utterance of relief, the astrologian felt his heart jump into his throat the moment those two toned eyed met his in the doorframe, exhausted and weary. The well-worn helmet in the dragoon's hand dropped to the floor along with his rucksack as a half-hearted smile played at his lips before he was engulfed in an embrace.
"Welcome back." Cupping his husband's face, Felix rose on tiptoes to meet Arleaux's level, thumbs stroking along angular cheekbones as he leaned in for a breathless kiss. The feeling of ice-cold metal at the small of his back brought a shudder down his spine, the knit of his sweater no match for the dragoon's frigid gauntlet. Felix could stay like this forever, feeling the other's body warm under his touch, the grime resting on Arleaux's cheeks dissipate with every swipe of his thumbs, the way he breathed warmth and life back into his husband's body after a long trip out in the field, happily giving up his entire being just to hold him for a heartbeat more.
But even love has it's limits, the burning in Felix's lungs forcing him to break for breath, keeping his brow pressed against his husband's. "Welcome home. The bath is ready, let's... I'll help you with your armor."
Waking up was never Felix’s strong suit. Waking up for a second time after falling back asleep was even harder still. The routine had become second nature to him by now, but never any easier to stomach.
The couple had it refined to an art by now. Waking up before the sun, Felix dragging himself out of bed to make a hot breakfast for them both while Arleaux readied himself and his effects, and then came the ritual. Their last handful of minutes together before deployment, full of sleepy murmurings and careful but firm hands, fastening buckles and armor into place, and the goodbyes. Whether he was being a help or a hindrance, Felix had no idea. For all he knew, Arleaux could be redoing everything the moment he was out the door. After all, he wasn’t the dragoon. His husband was.
And then came the final part of the routine: returning to bed and praying he slept half the day away before eventually waking once more. Alone. The longer he slept, the sooner he’d come home, the sooner the bed wouldn’t feel so large, the apartment so empty.
“It’s so quiet...” Waiting for a reply that wasn’t coming, the hyur desperately tried to shake the uneasy silence, mumbling and humming to himself as he dragged himself out of bed, jamming his glasses on his nose as he dragged a cold pair of pants and sweater far too large for his slender frame off of the floor. Throwing the sweater overtop of his already warmed up pajamas, Felix was free to loudly grouse to his hearts content as he stumbled and hopped his way into his wrinkled slacks, across the bedroom and over to the front door.
He needed to get out of here. He couldn’t stand the quiet any longer than he had to, and how could he, when his brother-in-law’s manse was so full of warmth and life? Besides, Sethileon was also by himself now. And misery loves company.
@thefrostflower and I were joking about Felix and Ezra’s relationship together as somewhat brotherly but also very much starstruck (heh) younger student and a mentor figure and I immediately thought of this comic
