progress on hirogaru sky ribbon felts, doing the same stitch (yellow edge around the wing) makes me go UAHGG so i sewed every other ‘ribbon’ part first. i did realise what i shouldve been doing to keep the edge sewing more neat but i’ll implement that next time

🎨 Art Is for Everyone: Reclaiming Creativity in a Noisy World
Home In today’s hyper-connected, fast-paced world, it’s easy to forget the quiet, essential truth: we are all creative beings. From childhood, we draw, build, sing, and play without hesitation. But somewhere along the way, many of us are taught that unless we’re “good” at it, it doesn’t count. That creativity belongs to the few, the trained, the gifted—or worse, the famous. But this is a myth.…

Song Kul to Kochkor
We awoke to clear skies and frost on the grass. The sky had been clear overnight with a sky full of stars, but I found that I can no longer see them clearly, a major disappointment. The dogs of the camp have been trained to keep the animals out of the camp. In the middle of the night I woke to barking and someone yelling “Help, Help” One of the women had apparently startled a dog and it was being agressive. But the camp owner got out and called off the dog before I could find my way out of the dark yurt. In the morning one of the horses had found where some of the leftovers from the night before had been dumped and was chowing down. This was apparently closer to camp than the dogs allowed and there was one dog on each side barking furiously to no avail. The horse ignored them and kept on eating.
By the time we were ready to leave the skies were clouding up, but no rain came.
We headed across the steppe and down the valley and back to the main road then back to Kochkor.
There we visited a cooperative that teaches felt making. We got a lesson on traditional felt making techniques.
When we stopped in a town there was a local market and some of us identified watermelons as a purchase. We bought two large watermelons for later consumption.
There are a lot of cemeteries along the road and it's a good opportunity to see the local style of gravestones and monuments.
We drove along the south shore of Issyk Kul a large saline lake. At 5,000 feet it qualifies as an alpine lake, the second largest after Lake Titicaca in Bolivia. Apparently the north shore has a lot of resorts, but the south shore is pretty empty. We stopped briefly at a beach that was almost empty, which was surprising as it was Independence Day for Kyrgyzstan and so a holiday.
