the old guard 2 spoilers
my thoughts on what went wrong with this movie:
surgery report!
the good:
- I LOOOOVE everyone who worked with me! half of the staff was trans themselves, everyone was very affirming and answered all my questions and worked hard to make me feel safe and comfortable. the intake PA told me a lot of shark facts because i love sharks, and the OT at the end chatted with me a lot about my chronic illness in such an understanding way 🥺
- they had puzzles in the waiting room which totally put my very very anxious mind at ease
- no complications, and now that anesthesia is wearing off more, i feel very good! not strong but happy and comfortable
the bad (CW for needles, blood, and veins talk):
- longtime feefheads may know that i have a horrible vein phobia, particularly wrists and my own veins. i can look at and even admire veins on hands but wrists? lethal to me. i am also an Awful stick, i've had to get IVs maybe 10+ times in my life (not that i needed them most times, but it's standard practice in ERs and i would occasionally go to the ER for urgent care at night) and not ONCE has anyone succeeded on the first try. usually goes to 3, i think once someone got it on a second try. unfortunately, my veins were super uncooperative and we were running out of places to put them, and i was legitimately scared i'd have to reschedule surgery if the wrist was the only option (i'm that serious about how awful my aversion is). thankfully, they got someone from the IV department to come down on the 3rd try and they did an ultrasound and got it in painlessly in a very tolerable area!
the ???:
- i literally don't know whether i have nips or not. the plan was to go no-nip, which most of the team's notes state, except the surgeon's notes talk about nipple grafts. i have some sensation on one side that could be nipple sensation or maybe just underlying tissue sensitivity? anyway, i'm not allowed to take off the binder for 24 hours, so that's gonna be an Interesting surprise
surgery was a success!! to anyone who messaged me about it, i love you and i am alive and well, but still extremely sleepy so i will reply later ❤️
LESS THAN A WEEK TIL TOP SURGERY
picked the magnus archives back up from the start and ep 15 (lost johns' cave) was the first one to actually spook me enough to make it hard to sleep
i am SO confused by the posts about the UI update because i have had the shitty 3-clicks update for ages now, and the second everybody else got it, mine went back to the old one. will science ever be able to explain this
