This is a final image of my contemporary sampler. I don’t have a nice camera so I shot this on my phone. I photoshopped this image to put it in a clean setting. Sorry if it looks a bit butchered.
medium: feather boa, plaster wrap, cardboard for interior, q-tips, aluminum foil and painted in gauche.
meaning:
The dandelion is me because as a child I moved around a lot and I consider myself throughout my life as a drifter. The flower has a few puffs missing because it represents how the puffs on the dandelion drifts away with the wind.
The stem represents a term that my mother told me as a child. She said that I am like a plant and she needs to make sure the plant grows up straight but she said that I am crooked because I don’t like to listen.
The pot (crate) is in the style of a milk crate because my father started off supporting us by working in liquor stores. One significant memory to me is when I was a child and I had one empty milk crate at home. I used it as a doll house since my parents didn’t really buy me toys. As a child I knew how to make do with whatever types of resources I had.
medium: 100% wool felt, lacy fabric I reused from one of my dresses, my fake eyelashes (worn once), the interior contains wool that I crocheted and machines washed to agitate. This was created by using a combination of needle felting and wet felting.
meaning:
This represents one of my three faces, this one is the face I show to people at all times. I see it as a front.

medium: tulle, upcycled clothing, string from an old apron I used when I was a server
meaning:
They contain the words Mi and Nam which is my Korean first name and last name. I constructed this dress to look like a hambok which is a traditional Korean dress.
