[Ask] Has Itachi ever used her genjutsu to mess with her boyfriend, Naruto?
Yes.
And she absolutely denies it.
X-xx-X
It started innocently.
Naruto woke up one morning absolutely convinced that the kettle was judging him.
Not talking—that would be insane—but… disappointed. Every time he reached for it, the pressure in the room shifted, like he’d failed some unspoken test.
“…I’m not even late,” he muttered, glaring at the kettle.
From the other side of the kitchen, Itaka sipped her tea with serene focus.
“What?” she asked.
Naruto squinted at her. “Did you do something weird?”
She didn’t even look up. “You’re imagining things.”
Which, unfortunately for him, was exactly what genjutsu specialized in.
Later that week, his ramen tasted slightly off. Not bad. Just… wrong. Like someone had swapped the noodles for an inferior alternate-universe version.
The next day, his reflection winked at him in the mirror.
That was when he snapped.
“Itaka,” Naruto Uzumaki said very carefully, crouching in front of her as she folded laundry. “Be honest. Are you messing with me?”
She paused. Folded a shirt with military precision. Then met his eyes.
“No.”
He stared.
She stared back.
A full ten seconds passed before the illusion broke—his reflection in the window behind her stuck its tongue out at him.
Naruto burst out laughing. “YOU ARE!”
Itaka sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose. “You left your wet towel on the floor again.”
“That’s not a crime!”
“It’s a temptation,” she replied calmly. “And my genjutsu control is excellent.”
He flopped backward onto the tatami, still laughing. “You know I can’t even be mad, right?”
She allowed herself a small, secret smile.
Later—much later—when Naruto pretended to fall asleep on her shoulder, she leaned down and whispered, “If you tell Sasuke, I’ll make your shadow judge you forever.”
Naruto’s eyes stayed closed.
“Worth it,” he murmured.
She smacked his forehead lightly.
The kettle, wisely, said nothing.
