Can’t stress how great this talk is! You go girl
I don't know if any of you actually know this, but I'm the president of my college's robotics club! And, might I add, our team was the only team this weekend with more than one girl on their team. *pats back* Good job Ms. President.
Okay, so this has officially replaced GE's Childlike Imagination (My Mom) commercial as my new favorite commercial of the year. I will always be grateful that I grew up in a family that let me be weird and amazing; that never discouraged me from helping build or fix things or play with power tools. If there's one wish I have for girls today, it's that they grow up in those families too. (Although, I hope they never, like my dad did, tell them that men won't date women smarter than them. PROVED HIM WRONG, I DID.)
(My one quibble is that wearing makeup != disliking science. They are independent of each other and pretending that they're related enforces the idiotic pretty/smart dichotomy. A lot of us smart, pretty, and pretty+smart ladies are getting annoyed with that)
