La scelta della data non è casuale, ma fa riferimento a un episodio: - Erano tre giovani donne le sorelle Mirabal che il 25 novembre 1960 furono brutalmente assassinate dal dittatore Trujillo, in Repubblica Dominicana; caddero in un’imboscata degli agenti del servizio segreto militare, portate in una piantagione di canna di zucchero, furono massacrate, picchiate, bastonate e strangolate. I loro corpi furono rimessi nel veicolo sul quale viaggiavano che fu fatto precipitare in un dirupo per simulare un incidente.  Attiviste politiche, più volte imprigionate e torturate per la loro opposizione alla dittatura, Patria, Maria Teresa, Minerva, il loro nome in codice era  Las Mariposas ovvero Le Farfalle, a queste e a tutte le donne che rischiano la propria vita a combattere con la speranza di avere un mondo migliore.
