I almost never post photos of myself but

Yea I'm a 4th year uni student (Chemistry major, Physics/math double minor) just trying to get by and I'm not asking for anything - I'm just saying that if I can do it, anyone can. I've struggled, barely passed courses, passed others with flying colours, done research in computational biophysics and my GPA is a crappy 2.8 and climbing. idk I just think I needed to see another black girl in stem just doing her thing so, I hope I can inspire people like me to pursue stem and research even if it's hard and confusing. It's a beautiful field, full of opportunities and information.

Yeah I'm the ONLY black female senior undergraduate in physics and it's my last year, I just wish there was more.

Day 4 of #wearestemsquad My biggest inspiration is definitely my husband. Every day he sets an example of who I should be professionally and genuinely. For anyone who knows me, you know how inpatient, stubborn and short tempered I can be. He's the exact opposite and I strive to be more like him. He also inspires me educationally. We may have the same major and classes but he sees science so differently from me. Time after time he shows me medicine and science isn't just black and white but it is an art. I am so lucky that I get to share my passion with my best friend. This picture was taken a couple years ago in a joint pediatric surgery where we were extremely lucky to work together. Day 3 of #wearestemsquad Today is all about my field. As a surgical technologist I specialized in otolaryngology or more commonly known as Ear, Nose and Throat. We cover a large variety of patients and problems. We see kids with chronic otitis media, to wounded warriors involved in blasts and patients with head and neck cancer. We see patients at every age. At some point in life almost everybody has an ENT problem. I honestly love being in the operating room. Here I am suturing up a patient after a thyroidectomy. I'm just putting in the last knot. Surgery will always be a passion of mine. In honor of women's history month I'm participating in #wearestemsquad for March. Throughout my professional and educational career I've seen way too many girls tear each other down instead of lifting each other up. It's time to change that, especially in fields where we are already out numbered. Anyways, here's my introduction. My name is Chelsea. I am a nationally certified surgical technologist.
