What are you waiting for? Register now!
Once you register, you’ll get access to our exclusive Slack chat channel! A place for registered and previous con attendees to get to know each other, help plan for the con, and talk about anything and everything.
If you’ve considered coming to next year’s tgifemslash but you’re not sure, there are plenty of good reasons why you should! Let us count the ways, shall we:
Found family
The recurring theme in tweets about our con is that you will find your people.
We are a fan-driven, intimate experience for making friends, building relationships, and taking part in conversations — not just listening to other people have them. This con is built with you, the femslash fan, in mind and we want you to be a part of helping us shape what happens there.
Buddies
New to the con? Don’t know anyone? Don’t worry!
Our buddy system will match people attending the con for the first or second time with TGIF/F veterans. This way, you’ll have a friendly face to sit by in panels, join for a meal, or ask questions throughout the weekend, as needed.
Having a buddy is optional but can be a great way to make new friends. We have a Buddies Meetup on Thursday night, where you’ll get to know your buddy and meet other con attendees, and a Buddy Breakfast on Friday so you can split a bagel with your new friends and get ready for a great first day.
Scholarships
If you want to come to TGIF/F, we want to help you get here. Assistance is available to both first-time and returning con attendees for registration, hotel, flights or other travel. You can apply for a scholarship as part of the registration process, even if you aren’t entirely sure how much assistance you will need. Find out more.
We have only FIFTEEN *non-artist* spots left for TGIF/F 2019. If you want in, get your skates on and come join us for the weekend of your life!
We are now just ONE WEEK away from registration for TGIF/F 2019!
Our 4th convention will be in Orange Country, CA from 14 to 17 February.
Join more than 100 femslash fans to discuss, laugh, dance, build friendships, and celebrate our amazing community.
Registration goes live on September 9th. After registering, you will have 14 days to submit your payment. Mark your calendars!
In addition to our classic programming like discussion panels, Club Femslash, the Fic Battle, and our one-of-a-kind Auction, we've got many great new things in the works to make 2019 our best con yet:

hexrmionegranger replied to your post “is it ok for straight girls to love femslash?”
i'm straight and love femslash too and don't see anything wrong with that. while sometimes it makes me wary to write femslash, it doesn't stop me from appreciating it - and every other sexuality - and loving to read/write it :)
I think it's absolutely awful and indicative of society's opinion of girl on girl relationships that there are so few f/f fics, and even worse that abusive or unhealthy relationships are more popular as this normalises and fetishised abuse.
Anon you are absolutely 100% on point with this. The figures are incredibly disturbing. I know I have read probably over 1000 m/m fics in my eight years of reading fanfiction and maybe only 20 f/f centred fics and that genuinely alarms me. There just is not enough femslash fics available and the few that are good become unnoticed and sink to the depths of the archive system so quickly. Meanwhile fics of Snape/Harry and Snape/Hermione raise to the top and are read and actually somehow enjoyed (?!) by so many people. This needs to change. Our fandom needs to change. And our society needs to change.
The TGIF/F Schedule has been decided! We’ve packed the weekend with fandom panels, meta conversations, multifandom discussions, games, parties, and even left room for you to start your own conversations as you make new connections with new friends. If you’ve been on the fence about coming, we hope this helps persuade you to join us. If you’re already signed up, we hope you’re as excited as we are.
More details and descriptions under the cut.
Most panels are open group discussions, typically 50 minutes and moderated by one or two attendees. There are three types of panels: Meta, Multifandom, and Single Fandom. All panel topics were nominated and voted in by attendees.
Single panel topics will have more details at tgifemslash.com soon!
Diversity and Representation - A conversation about the various aspects of diversity and representation in the media we consume and how well creators are or aren’t meeting our expectations. Which shows/comics/books/movies are doing it right? How do we effectively make ourselves heard when we feel they aren’t?
What it Takes to Make Me Ship the Thing - There’s a certain chemistry that occurs to make us believe in a ship and want to sail it. What makes you tick? Is it just the combination of a blonde and a brunette? Or maybe contrasting personalities who start out hating each other? Whatever it is, come share!
The Perks and Pitfalls of Canon versus Fanon - The experience of shipping a femslash pairing can be very different when it’s canon versus when it’s not. Come discuss the pros and cons of both, as well as the tricky situation of queerbaiting and how that can help or hinder the shipping experience.
My Favorite AUs, Tropes, and Memes / Imagine Your OTP - Sometimes canon just isn’t enough and you need your ladies to be space pirates, you know? Come join a spirited discussion of our favorite femslash situations as we all imagine our ship of choice and laugh about which is the most amazing. We’ll also discuss our favorite femslash tropes and memes to celebrate (and commiserate) together.
Bitches Get Shit Done - This is a special hour that will feature a panel of pre-selected female writers, producers, and directors, many from our own fandom community. Probable Robot filmmaker Karyn Ben Singer will lead a Q&A about creating original works, what it takes to get a project off the ground, and the struggles encountered when creators strive to have their unique voices heard.
EVENTS:
Speed Fandoming - Get to know each other Speed Dating style, but with fandom stuff! You’ll have three minutes to share your faves with each other before moving on to the next person. This a great way to quickly get to know a few facts about the people you’ll be hanging out with over the weekend. (And if this sounds too intense, we promise it’s not mandatory.)
GeekOut Trivia - Can you name five Taylor Swift songs? What about ten? Twenty? GeekOut pits teams against each other as they prove who knows more about pop culture.
Kickback Party - Hang out, play board games, listen to music, or just chat with each other. We’re putting together a low-key space for those who just want to chill out during the intense cutthroat game of GeekOut Trivia happening in the other end of the room.
Screen Time - Assorted YouTube videos and fun stuff projected on the screen in Room 1. Requests welcome.
Raffle Auction - We’ve put together an amazing spread of fannish items for you to win! Buy as many raffle tickets as you want and secure your chance to take home something awesome. All proceeds go toward TGIF/F. (Pictures of auction items will be available on our forum as we begin to assemble them.)
Shopping Time - Looking for unique fandom themed items? Attendees who create their own artwork and crafty fun stuff will be able to make their pieces available for sale. This is a great way to find exclusive items relevant to your interests.
Probable Robot - Come see this sci-fi indie flick about Mona and Jules, ex-girlfriends who work in neighboring retail shops. They haven’t gotten along since their break-up, though the impending robot invasion may be slightly more important than their relationship drama. As far as we know, it’s the first queer lady body-snatching B-movie crowdfunded by fandom.
Femslash Vidshows - Fan vids are a powerful medium. They can show us the best of what we love about a show or ship, or they can show us something new by remixing what we already know. In these two vidshows, we’ll show you some of the best femslash vids for the pairings we love.
Costume Contest - With great fandoms comes great costumability. (Shh, it’s a word.) If you’re a cosplayer and you want to compete for prizes (and look awesome at our dance party), bring your gear and get dressed up!
Dance Party - After a long day of discussion and laughter, let’s rock out together to our favorite songs.
Femslash Pictionary - You’ve never played Pictionary quite like this before. We’ve created long, multifandom clues for the brave and willing to tackle illustrating. An example: “Emma Swan and Cosima fly to visit Root on the moon.”
Karaoke - Sticking around Sunday night? We’ll pull up your favorite tune on YouTube and let you sing your heart out.
