We've all noticed the #CancelYourGays trend happening in the TV landscape over the last couple of years - too many queer/wlw shows are getting cancelled (many after just one season!). Join us to discuss our favorite short-lived shows and pairings, as well as the meta behind this trend.

Our friends over at @lezwatchtv document TV shows with queer female, non-binary, and transgender characters - 2025 had the lowest number of tv shows on-air since 2007!

Hi! I love the idea of the virtual event. I am hoping for help to figure out if it's an event that makes sense for me and my system to attend. We like various kinds of femslash, of course, or I wouldn't be asking, but our fandoms are for danmei (a type of BL), so I worry that we're not the target demographic/won't connect with anyone.

So, may I ask whether genderbend, trans genderbend, or canon women from TGCF and SVSSS are significantly represented in the event? No worries if not or if you don't know, and thank you!

As far as I know, our confam doesn't currently have anyone who ships danmei / BL. But I am going to publish this response in case they shout out that yes they do, or if there are others in Tumblr land who are interested in both our con and this fandom!

You can see the current nominations for panel topics to get a sense of what our registered attendees are into at the moment.

BUT, I will say - please keep following us and, as we expand our virtual event (this is the first one!), I hope more and more fandoms and types of media will be represented!

hello! i was wondering what timezone the schedule for your virtual con will be based around? might be good information to put on your website, especially if you're hoping to make the event accessible to people around the world :)

Hello friend, great question!

At this stage, 90% of our registrations are from North America so that's going to be the primary timezone for this first year of Virtual TGIF/F.

But, like everything with our con, we co-design our schedule and programming with our attendees. We currently have some attendees from Australia, Asia, and Europe - so those timezones are on our big planning spreadsheet and we'll be aiming to put key things our attendees vote on at times that work for them!

I certainly hope that we will grow our Virtual TGIF/F community and be able to look at covering more (dare I hope, all?!?) timezones in future years!
