Took some time this afternoon to update my BG3 OC page. I've decided that losing my saves gives me a clean slate. Some OCs made the cut, some are gone forever, and I'm okay with that

Some new OCs that I'm excited about (who knows if I'll ever actually play them though lol)

Fen Shadowlark - half-drow wizard, romancing Minthara (her game I really want to play). She's not evil, she's efficient

Fredgar Trevel - human cleric of Mystra, romancing Gale. They don't hook up during the game but they were on the cusp of falling in love again and again. After the game, Gale becomes a recluse and disappears. Twenty years later, Mystra sends Fredgar on a mission to stop Gale from ascending to godhood. Gale asks Fredgar to leave Mystra behind to become his Chosen instead

Sorrel Ashwood - halfing rogue, romancing death. Dark Urge who goes all in on the child of Bhaal. Decides the world can burn and will love every moment

So I'm ready to start a new playthrough of BG3. What I should probably do is play Penny or Cabbage for screenshots. However, I've done that version like 3.5 times now

It's time to mix things up

Enter Fen Shadowlark. She's a necromancer who is obsessed with power and death. Her one strength is bringing out the worst in people, so here's how her playthrough is going to go

Gale will chase after godhood

Astarion will become the vampire ascendant

Wyll will kill Karlach (I KNOW!) and become the Duke of Ravengard

Shadowheart will become a Dark Justiciar

Lae'zel will stay true to Vlaakith

We'll pick up Minthara in act 2

Fen is going to romance Wyll. She doesn't want to become a goddess, she wants to defeat death on her own terms, so Gale is out. She's secretly jealous of elves and half-elves with their long life spans, so any elf is out of the question. She might sleep with Lae'zel in act 1, but not go in for a relationship, because she doesn't want to compete with a would-be goddess (yes, Fen has to compete with Mizora, but she thinks she can handle her)

I'll post screenshots tonight once I start the game!

Some backstory/choices

She went to the same wizard university as Gale, at the same time. Gale lost his virginity to her, because Mystra told him he needed human experience before he would be ready for anything more. The sex was really, really bad, but over the years, Gale convinced himself it was pretty good, actually

I've been trying to figure out why a nice guy like Wyll would even be interested in a gal like this. And then it hit me. He thinks he can fix her through the power of love. It ain't gonna end well for them, because she doesn't think there's anything to fix

She's going to save the tieflings out of spite. She really dislikes the druids she meets so anything she can do to piss them off is good in her book

OC of the Week - Fen Shadowlark

Name: Fen Shadowlark

Game: Guild Wars

Race: Human

Fun Fact: I love Fen, but I absolutely hate the assassin class in GW. But since I need to have one of each class, she stayed. Luckily, I found an interesting Assassin/Ranger build that let me use a bow that I really enjoyed.

In what Fen would consider her misspent youth, she and her brother ran with the Crimson Skulls guild on Shing Jae island. There, she made a great deal of coin while increasingly having to pretend that she wasn’t a criminal. 

Finally, one day she had enough, and begged her brother to leave the guild with her. He was too entangled in guild politics to leave. So Fen made the hardest decision of her life and left the guild and the island without him. 

Once she reached the slums of Cantha, Fen gave away almost all of her gold to beggars on the street. It still wasn’t enough. She quickly realized that her skills as an assassin could also be used in robbery. Before she knew it, she had a reputation of stealing from those who could afford it to help feed those who needed help. 

But hungry people were everywhere, and Fen decided she needed to see a bit of the world. Now she travels from city to city, helping as many people as she can. She’s even managed to get a bit of a reputation and people whisper of the shadowlark and the havoc that she can cause.

Ooooh, are Fen Shadowlark and Fen Shepard related/are they same person? How are they alike? How are they different?

Oh what a fun question! I tend to recycle names until they end up with a ‘definitive’ character. The names Sonya and Fen come from Guild Wars. The names Anelle, Wynneth and Bethroot are all from LotRO. 

Fen Shadowlark and Fen Shepard are complete opposites. Fen Shadowlark is basically Kasumi. She’s cheerful, proud of her skills and wants to help people. (Please note Fen Shadowlark was created in 2009, before I had any idea who Kasumi was. :D) I didn’t play her all that much, because I really wasn’t a good assassin. (I really preferred the magic classes in GW). But I loved her look. That hood she wore in the picture? She never took it off. And while some assassins wore big fancy armor, she loved the simplicity of the starter armor (at max armor levels, of course). 

And then there’s Fen Shepard. Shepard is nothing like Shadowlark. Fen Shepard is angry. There are moments when she’ll be calm (like in the Playing House fic I just posted), but most of the time, she’s a ball of righteous fury. She cuts through the bullshit and could gives a rats ass about diplomacy as long as the job gets done. And she never set out to make friends among the crew. Even with Garrus. When she talked about stress relief, that’s what she was looking for and was a bit annoyed he wanted to put it off, cause she was stressed and she was stressed now. 

Their backstories actually do have a bit in common. Shadowlark was from a small village outside the monastery. When she was young, it was attacked by a guild and the Crimson Skulls guild fought them off. Her parents were killed in the raid, so the Crimson Skulls took her in and trained her. Shepard is from Mindoir and we all know what happened there.
