Mask Hearing

Mask Hearing is the bane of all Fencers....

When your friend off strip or your opponent says something but you can't hear because of mask padding that insulates your ears for protection but makes you deaf as a post.

Though after a certain amount of time you adjust and you can hear perfectly and then.....BOOM you take your mask off and now everything is WAY too loud...

Because of the mask being one of the most important parts of a Fencers uniform it also makes it hard to hear anything around you except for your own breathing.

Also if you receive headshots they echo forever within the mask

Hi there! Nice to meet you!

I’m Sylvie, the local quirky athlete/musician/science geek from around the corner, and I wanted to make a fencing blog. Everyone knows about football, basketball, and whatnot, but what about the cooler sports? (*cough cough* fencing?) Why the heck not? I mean, what’s not awesome/ badass about people with their heads looking like disco balls slashing at each other? I’ve set out to create a blog made by a fencer, (I fence sabre, so grrrr,) for fencers, or anyone who is even slightly intrigued by the sport! I can answer questions and possibly give coaching advice :)

Dunno where this is going, but oh well... i mean, thats how cool things get started right?
