Something about that red stripe of red in Dan Heng’s hair implying that Dan Feng refused to take his (matching with Yingxing) earring off for the molting rebirth makes me asdfghjjkl

Vidyhadara are suppose to leave all material and earthly possessions behind before reincarnation, but Dan Feng went down kicking and screaming that he would never forget his Yingxing, even if it had to be permanently etched into his skin (or in this case, his hair). Side Note: It makes me think anything a Vidyhadara brings with them to rebirth might fuse to their body and possibly botch the rebirth process completely depending on the item which is… something.

On the flip side, I feel like a lot of Blade’s anger at Dan Feng doesn’t just come from Jingliu’s brainwashing, but also feeling like he was abandoned. I think we forget Blade/Yingxing had NO idea what was happening to Dan Feng (probably, and if he did know, he forgot because of the mara), evidenced by Blade repeating that Dan Heng hasn’t “paid the price” (in my opinion, torture, experimentation, having actual body parts ripped off, a faulty rebirth, and growing up in a cold dark prison alone is definitely enough to pay that price). (I want Blade’s reaction to finding that out by the way Hoyo plz). As far as Yingxing is aware, Dan Feng is the most powerful person on the Loufu. How in the world would they subdue him enough to arrest him? (I have my own theories but that’s a completely separate post and also a very long essay about the Sedition).

Anyway as soon as he revealed Dan Heng’s true form and realized that’s not HIS Dan Feng, his obsession with chasing him for revenge totally simmered down… well, after having a mara struck mental breakdown about it of course. He was probably going through a sort of grieving process, and that’s why Kafka was struggling to control him. Later him and Dan Heng come to a sort of understanding which feels like a total 180° change in character UNLESS this sense of abandonment is truly where Blade’s feelings come from. In fact Dan Heng promises not to abandon him, and this seems to bring Blade some peace.

TLDR: I ramble about how grossly in love Dan Feng and Yingxing are to the point it carries onto their next incarnations
