How do you describe a man that seems as if he bled off the pages of a fantasy novel — cool , powerful , awesome ? Nah ! As far as Mikey is concerned Keke is just a funny old man who eats too many gross walnuts. His mystifying abilities and impressive swordsmanship comes second to that.
It would be easy if that were the end of their story , but it’s not. They are worlds apart , and one day he’s afraid he may find himself further. Mikey will miss him — but he doesn’t belong here does he ? Keke doesn’t need him , not in the way Mikey will eventually learn that all along he was waiting for someone like Wen Kexing to show up.
You see , there’s a secret Mikey has been keeping close to his chest. For the longest time he has been driving towards the edge of a cliff at a hundred miles per hour , and he doesn’t know how to stop. Mikey thinks that maybe Keke has been to that edge before. He wants to ask , how did you survive it ? — because for the first time in his life there’s someone stronger than him , and he wants to know , no , needs to know if people like them , who are colored by grief and tragedy have a chance at coming out whole.
— and if not whole , still recognizable ?
Maybe he won’t like the answer Keke has for him , but it’s been so long since anyone has been able to guide him anywhere , that perhaps he would be satisfied in walking through the darkness if only he knew where it may end.
Wen Kexing is what he’s lost along the way , a father , a brother , family.
