Just learned that if you catch a salmon during mating season, it thinks "ah well, this is it, I'm out of the water and a predator (human) is grabbing me, I'm going to die" so as a final attempt to continue it's bloodline, it will discharge it's milt (basically fish sperm) at the moment it thinks it might die.
I'm also thinking about Spock deliriously thinking Kirk is trying to kill him during their fight during Amok Time (bcos that's what they're both meant to do as per the rules of the fight) and the fact he already compared himself to salmon once before... And I'm not saying anything or drawing any conclusions about what may or may not have happened based on these two completely separate pieces of trivia.
