So I just thought of a kind of reverse!AU of Danny Phantom? Not like the Reverse Trio! AU, but reverse!Fenton/Phantom.

I don’t know how to exactly explain it but it would go a bit like this:

Fenton is the kid that everyone looks up to. He’s smart, good looking, kind, helps people whenever he can, and is a wiz at engineering. He’s constantly being looked to for help. And he is constantly on the radar for teens. His home life is basically the same as in the show. Kooky ghost hunting parents, sister obsessed with psychology, and the two best friends he could ever ask for.

But he is a bit tired of always being in the spotlight.

Thus comes Phantom.

The usual thing happens with Sam getting Fenton to go into the ghost portal, and he gets turned into a half ghost like normal. But instead of immediately jumping into being the hero, after he figures out he’s half ghost, he thinks that his Phantom side is a perfect chance to get out of the spotlight.

So now, Phantom becomes just that. A phantom. The ghost of a kid that no one knows that seems to pop up sometimes at random, either reading a book or just floating and staring at the sky, day dreaming or other things.

The other ghosts leave him alone, believing him to be a full ghost that would like to *ahem* live out the rest of his days peacefully.

Thus: the end of this AU explanation.

To recap: instead of Phantom being heroic and being in the spotlight with Fenton being the weak and looked over kid, Fenton is heroic and is in the spotlight while Phantom just wants to be left alone.
