plus grief affects/manifests differently in everyone and it’s *easily, easily* conceivable for a traumatic event like his mother’s death to affect his relationship with his brother like this
exactly ! OMG. like damon loved his mother so much and then he saw her getting sicker by every month that passed till stefan was born. in his mind. stefan did this. he thinks if his brother wasn’t born he’d never have lost her and his father would never become alcholic. his trauma starts AFTER STEFAN’S BIRTH. he was hurt and sad and angry in such a young age and he couldn’t recover BECAUSE HIS DAD WAS FALLING APART TOO and after everything he needs a let out and it doesn’t take long to suddenly blame this infant baby for everything going wrong in ur life
