Jay had managed to take them out with his shovel , but at what cost ?                         A book is just as good as a time machine or a teleportation device , if you used it CORRECTLY . Words take you to a different place entirely , if your imagination can COPE with the worlds they drag you into . I can proudly say that Klaus Baudelaire’s imagination , even as he reached 25 , was still VERY much in tact & still very much allowed him to be transported to those incredible places . 

                       That being said , books were also a DISTRACTION from the world around you , as the Professor was about to find out . To Kill a Mockingbird was a classic , one from a bit BEFORE his time , as many books were , but one he adored , nonetheless . Atticus & Scout never failed to keep him ENTERTAINED , especially when he was speeding through the library with his eyes down and toward the page . His imagination was running quite wild , indeed , which is why the woman in front of him was no paid any mind until they were COLLIDING .

                       “ Oh , I - I’m very sorry , ” Klaus would spring back , catching the book clumsily before it was able to hit the ground , letting out a RELIEVED breath as hazel eyes glanced up toward the woman . Perhaps it was his photographic memory pushing him along , but he SWORE he knew that face from somewhere . Obviously it was a bit older , a bit slimmer , but Klaus knew it , somehow . A second glance showed the book in her hand , one that matched his own , & he grinned charmingly . “ I see you have very good taste in BOOKS . ”

☀ ☼ – — YES  ,  his  flight  had  been  delayed  ,  but  that  would  not  get  Sonny  Ray  Carlson  down  !  He  had  a  tall  cup  of  coffee  ,  one  of  his  FAVORITE  books  ,  and  a  small  ,  blonde  girl  asleep  on  his  shoulder  .  Granted  ,  that  last  thing  had  been  UNEXPECTED  ,  but  it  was  something  he  could  live  with  .

He had to admit she had the upper hand here. The Governor hadn’t get managed to draw his weapon, whereas he was staring down the barrel of hers.
