this isn’t a fic prompt but i’m curious about penelope, what kind of person is she? which faction did she join? did she romance anyone?

She’s a strong one. Honestly, that’s the best thing I can think of to describe her simply. She’s confident in herself, but she’s also realistic. Independent and strong-willed. Honestly, law suited her perfectly, and she loved her job as a lawyer. She was good at it. She can come off as a bit stern or cold at first, but that’s basically her litmus test for new people.
When Nate enlisted into the military, she followed him. She wasn’t going to let him fight alone. She knew that married couples in the military had a decent chance of getting stationed within 100 miles of each other, so she’s pretty much the one who proposed.
Though they both went through basic training and passed, Nate was assigned to a combat role while she was assigned as an Army Paralegal Specialist -- which was, despite the ferocity of battle, and crucial role, due to the increasing complication of the war. Her job was an important one from a bureaucratic standpoint. But that didn’t really settle well with her; she wanted a more active role. So she requested to become a Human Resource Specialist that has a direct impact on assisting soldiers. Again, her temperament served her well, and she was stationed with Nate finally. But a little slip up with birth control complicated things. Knowing well that Nate could die, she made the difficult decision to accept an honorable discharge when it was clear she could no longer serve and there was no other way to care for the child.
During the events of Fallout, she was still strong, but shaken. There was a lot of survivor’s guilt and some PTSD. She joined every faction and played them to her advantage, eventually siding permanently with the Railroad. She romanced Hancock, but she was THIS close to romancing Curie -- so much so that I feel the need to mention it. :p
