THANK YOU YES. I might disagree with the templar supporters, but at least they took a fucking stand. Varric is so busy trying to play the middle and be liked by everyone that he panders to both sides. It's so frustrating.
Even some of the other centrists at least have earnest beliefs... Cassandra is a bit of a centrist but at least she’s an idealist about it. She actually dares to care, even if that leads her to siding with the templars too often.
Varric just... throws up his hands like “lol those mages and templars sure are at it again guys isnt it funny” when nah. nah it’s not, particularly, Varric. At least in DA2 he had the excuse of trying not to make the DA2 crew even more volatile plus the mage rebellion wasn’t ongoing as such yet, so you could get away with just not caring more easily, but... refusing to have an opinion during DAI beyond “bad actors on both sides” is just *rolls eyes*
