Montgomery Maverick wasn’t born to the sound of roaring engines, wasn’t cradled in the arms of parents whose whole life catered towards expensive karts and revolved around the professional race tracks.
No, Montgomery Maverick was born in the streets of America. With nothing to his name but the blood of street racers and a car borrowed and then given to him. He was but 15 when he was detained after a race had gone bust, and only 15 when someone saw his potential, saw the grit, the nitro in his veins.
Montgomery Maverick knew he didn’t belong, knew that his presence was an enigma in the long standing tradition and legacy of Ferrari. No one knew who he was, who his father, who his grandfather was. They were just numbers in a system that didn’t care whether or not they were barely living.
Maybe that was why he bounced back the way he did. Some would cut their losses after being tossed over and over again by the mechanical beast of a car that Ferrari created. Many people counted on his downfall, bet that he wouldn’t last a season. But each and every-time another race rolls around, Monty was there.
Ferrari’s proud nature wasn’t unfounded. It boasted legacies, created legends and wrote myths.
It didn’t come suddenly, it wasn’t obedience that stopped the prancing horse from thrashing and kicking him off its’ saddle. No, it took months. Months of gaining its’ trust and months of promising that its’ trust wasn’t in vain.
The Tifosi saw it, the engineers, the pit crew.. Montgomery walked in the halls of the Ferrari HQ in Maranello a boy, and came out the other end, a man.
Fred Vasseur had been criticized most of his life, Ferrari in itself having its’ moments of lapse judgement. But they never questioned the choice to offer Montgomery Maverick the seat, not after when he did the unthinkable.
He befriended the beast and with it became one with the prancing horse.
Throw in a 24, 33 and 35 as well for good measure. There is never enough Monty lore
TIRED THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME YAP SOME MORE! Feel free to ask more questions <- HERE
24. What are your character's special skills?
I wouldn’t know if it counts as special skills but Monty is great at cooking and singing. His rest from racing is usually spent in the kitchen with his mama and they’d cook local cuisines from his mother’s culture like chicharon and adobo which Monty takes pride in almost perfecting. He almost has it! Though he doesn’t clean up after himself well and makes a whirlwind of a mess..
Monty is actually someone who plays guitar and writes songs! It stemmed from his abuelolo (the name he calls his grandfather), who used to play love songs on his old acoustic guitar that he still has hanging up in his Monaco penthouse
33. How do they act around people they don't know? Are they shy around strangers or dismissive of them?
Monty usually gets little bouts of anxiety when meeting new people because he doesn’t want to mess up on what he says. He isn’t dismissive but he is a bit quieter that it comes off as him being arrogant when he really isn’t 😭 he’s struggling inwardly to try and calm himself
35. What attracts your character to another person? What kind of person do they go for?
Honestly Monty doesn’t really have a type but he’s someone who loves the calm, loves the feeling of being someone’s home and vice versa. He’s someone that gets so overwhelmed sometimes so having someone to hold him and reassure him that everything’s fine would be his solace. Monty goes for the peace. He doesn’t just want hook ups or one night stands, Monty is the kind of guy that dates to marry because love is all he’s ever known and seen with his parents.
