The French designer Gilbert Poillerat (1902-1988) was one of the masters of ironwork during the early twentieth century and worked with the best decorators of the time including Arbus, Adnet, Pascaud and Royère. His intricate, stylised designs, produced to the highest quality, are widely collected (including by Karl Lagerfeld) and are still influencing designers today. This well-illustrated book contains the most extensive illustrated catalogue of Poillerat's work available, including andirons, lights, mirrors, chairs, grills, tables and banisters. At the rear is a seperate section reproducing in facsimile the designer's drawings.
