@ferrousisms gets a thing
It should have been expected in the long run. Push something down deep enough to ignore it for a bit with a goal of functioning NORMALLY and no matter how much the smile that’s painted on convinces everyone around you, eventually what you tried to hide away will begin to eat you from the inside out. Tonight was the night when Allison’s demons returned to HAUNT her, digging their way out of the dark corner she’d shoved them in.
Every moment she’d failed, every person she’d killed or let die suddenly all coming back with a vengeance, all of them intent on putting the former soldier through her own personal h e l l until she’s left curled up in a ball with tired, sleep deprived eyes looking every bit as empty as Allie currently felt. Who was she to think that coming someplace new would suddenly erase everything? Running away had never solved problems of a personal nature, why would it solve larger ones? It was naiive to think that everything would simply S T O P just because she’d left.
With luck she hopes that maybe she’ll be lucky enough not to make it to morning. Maybe in death she’ll finally gain some PEACE as life certainly wasn’t kind enough to give it to her.
