5, 13, and 33 please! So excited for this fic!

la you sent this back in august i think and i have no idea what the questions even were so i'm just going to make up questions which is probably more enjoyable* for both of us:

5. in the final days of finishing your fic, did you listen to 'horses' by maggie rogers on relentless repeat and if so why and what feelings did that spark in you?

yes and i don't even know why! maggie rogers i'm sure is fine but i can’t say i’m a particular fan. however i was at work and put on her most recent album on a whim and then that song came on and honestly (no shade maggie you’re great i’m sure) it’s kind of annoying/grating but in that moment it became the only song i could listen to for like three days as i was in the final throes and it carried me all the way through, it has a particular achiness that exactly matched what i was looking for. i was waiting to get the oil changed in my car, trying to tweak the last scenes on my phone, good ol’ maggie wishing she could be like those horses for just a minute, and i’m sure the people at the car place thought i was deranged

putting the rest under a cut because i am at all times afraid of annoying people on my own blog, which is a normal sentiment

13. did anything spooky or unlucky happen to you whilst writing your fic?

regretfully i was only haunted by my own shortcomings. maybe next time!

33. you mentioned, several times probably, how you would publish this fic and then ‘run screaming into the woods.’ did that happen?

well, no. saturday i did go running on a street surrounded by trees (pictured below) but i was still riding that joy of being done and the anxiety of having posted hadn’t quite hit yet. so it was very pleasant. i did have to listen to horses like five more times on the course of that run but i think it’s out of my system now.

hey! he is doing great! i find his character very intriguing and sort of sweet and heartfelt even though he is a bad guy lol? i also find his profile fascinating to look at, his face just looks like a shape that is not possible for a face to be? he also uses a lot of ASL in the show, and there is this very genuine-appearing tenderness between him and alaqua cox, the actress he plays against who is deaf. it's a smallish part, but i think he's very sort of lovely in it!

i did not respond to that post last week about what my favorite story of yours is bc i could not decide between your 1d wolfpack fic that i once read while driving bc i could not bear to stop reading and your budapest fic which just absolutely knocked my socks off in an entirely different way. FORTUNATELY then you posted your frostybee fic and it is now my FAVORITE FOREVER AND EVER and also EVER, thank you for solving this problem so decisively and also with USA Hockey sex.

LA i almost didn’t want to answer this because it’s so so nice and i just wanna look at it forever. you’re amazing and i cannot  believe you READ WHILE DRIVING holy shit that’s so dangerous but it brought us TOGETHER. also i’m glad you liked the frostybee fic!! it was fun to write and the reaction has been so incredible and people are now talking about the usa hockey sex cult which was my goal all along

@ferryboatpeak asked for an update on my squirrel daughter (hi la!!!! i missed u!!!), so here is a video i took of her semi-recently! it’s best for squirrels to have small amounts of animal protein in their diets, like some squirrels enjoy mealworms or cheese or hardboiled egg, but we’ve tried giving reyna all of those things and she is VERY not into them, she ignores them entirely without even acknowledging them as being potentially edible, so we’d kind of given up trying to give them to her. but a while ago we discovered that she REALLY enjoys deli ham and cream cheese on a bit of cracker, so that was v exciting! i make a super weird noise when she takes the cracker from me because i wasn’t sure if she would take it at all or would just nibble it out of my hand; she doesn’t like to touch things like cream cheese bc she doesn’t like her little paws to get dirty 🥺🥺.

anyway she is a PRECIOUS ANGEL and she stole a cookie straight out of my boyfriend’s hand the other day and then growled at him when he tried to take it back, she is living her VERY BEST LIFE!!

18, 20, 23!

18. A memorable meal this year?

Oh man there have been so many! And memorable for so many different reasons as well. Ian and I made a 6-course tomato centric meal in the spring that was amazing. I also loved our rehearsal dinner, which was at an Indian restaurant near my church. They made mostly vegetarian food for the buffet and everybody gorged themselves. (Plus I was freshly back from Greece so the spice levels lit me up more than they typically would, haha). 

20. What’s something you learned this year?

This is tough…I’ve spent the year realizing a lot of hard truths and learning a lot. Perhaps it’s that I’ve become more aware of how other people typically react to my intensity, in both professional and personal contexts. I’ve gotten better at not backing down when I shouldn’t, and walking away when I should. I still have a long way to go on this, though. For sure.

23. If you could send a message to yourself back on the first day of the year, what would it be?

I think I answered something similar to this, and my answer holds, which is to tell myself that I did it, I got everything done that was on my docket for the year. But, most of it took a longer than I anticipated, because at times I can overestimate my own capabilities, or I plan for things under the assumption that I’m operating at 100%. I still had (and have) a lot of healing to do and that takes time away from other things. But that’s ok, because I still got it done, and made a lot of progress on myself as well.

I agree that the Million Dollar Smoothie is a strong contender, but I think you’re overlooking the likelihood that anyone who loves both bananas and Stevie Nicks would order The Mystic.

The probability of Henry having ordered according to his witchy phallic tendencies is highly likely, however the lack of green drink in his immediate vicinity leads me to believe he’s strayed from his previous ideals for the time being
