The Squire & The Princess Go to School || [closed RP]
Once Frederick had declared that he would oversee her lessons for the day, Emmeryn had picked up her little brocade dress skirts and hurried to the magnolia tree on the castle’s large green. It was a far away part of the gardens, past the hedge maze and flower beds and statues. The green was vast, and the first half of it was made up of softly rolling green hills. The large flowering tree was atop one of them, and it was Emmeryn’s favorite tree, by far.
She was out of breath, for even though Father said that good princesses do not run, she had run anyway. But the shadow of the magnolia tree was vast, and she carefully cleared an area of fallen leaves and petals, making a good space for Frederick to join her and have their lesson.
“Surely Frederick won’t tell Father,” Emmeryn mused to herself, reaching up to a low hanging branch to pluck a fully formed white flower and tuck it into the little twirled bun she wore. Mother always insisted that she dressed properly, now that she was a big sister. Even though the bodices on her dresses were stiff and unforgiving, and the padded skirts could get hot.
“He won’t want me to get in trouble,” she nodded to herself, carefully taking a seat now that she had made herself presentable for class.
Frederick was getting the books, so all there was left to do was wait. And with hands folded eagerly in her lap, Emmeryn’s green eyes kept a dutiful watch on the garden horizon, looking for the young squire in his uniform who’d be coming to meet her.
“...I hope we can become friends after this...”
