"If I leave him in the tent he just humps things....but I guess that isn't too different from the rest of the guys."

Viper looked carefully at that hidden cache in her suitcases - the bottle absinthe still mostly filled, but that wasn’t unusual since she only ever drank it to take the edge off, not to party. What was stranger was the pill box holding dark amber beads of opium and that beautiful pipe, both unopened and unused. They were usually her drug of favor after a show, a celebratory session to ease the discomfort of dealing with the audience after a set. And yet, for some odd reason, she’d yet to feel the need to use her current stash - there was something intoxicating in the air itself, an almost tangible buzz that relaxed her nerves when she got a moment alone to herself.
Just that morning, she’d gone for a run, on her own, ducking behind the treeline, green hair in a tight bun hidden with a beanie. And it had been exhilarating. The vocalist had immediately made a note to herself to go for a run by herself at least once every day. Thankfully, it seemed no one bothered to venture into the nearby forest, after all it was artists like her people came to see, not foliage. Viper shook herself from her musings, and shut her suitcase, flopping down on her cot with a relieved sigh. NiteLite’s set had gone well, everything had gone exactly to plan.
She crossed her legs. Then turned on her side. Then turned the other way. And then she sat up, unable to shake the restless feeling coursing through her blood. For a moment she debated going for a run again, but a quick check of the time on her phone - 3:32 AM in neat white font - dissuaded her from the notion. It would only be a couple hours before the sun rose anyway, and she could surely distract herself for that long.
As she swung her legs over her bed and stood, a put upon huff escaped her lips, which were nude of any artificial color - the vocalist had washed her face, feeling sweaty and hot from the bright lights of the show. Gone were the dark washed jeans, the form fitting camisole, the leather jacket and in its place were a pair of cotton shorts and a roomy chemise, with her hair bound in a loose braid. The singer rummaged through her bag, pulling out her laptop. Though she spent most of her time with NiteLite, Viper still managed to make time for a weekly evening show on HYDRA - and she knew that next week, the listeners would want a run down of ShieldFest from her perspective. Of course, they expected to hear her point out flaws - not explain how beautiful the place was - hopefully, typing out a draft script would curb her restlessness and allow her to catch a little sleep before the day started.
She was a few paragraphs in when she heard a rustling sound outside her tent and then a quiet, whispered, “Ophelia!" Immediately, the jade eyed woman was off her bed and opening the tent flap to face her late night, or rather, early morning visitor, irritation pulling her sharp features into a frown. Before Viper could question her guest, a warm hand cupped the back of her neck and pulled her in for a quick, light kiss. The RJ pulled away, but pulled her caller in as well. She ducked her head out, checking to see if they'd been seen before turning back and fastening the tent flap behind her. Her voice was low, but intense.
"What are you doing here? You could have been seen!"

The amount of work it took to get into the Cinema tent without being seen was utterly ridiculous, but ultimately worth it, Viper decided. She hunched in her seat towards the back, studiously avoiding catching anyone's eye. As an additional defense strategy, the singer pulled out her phone and amused herself by reading various tweets about the festival. She was forced to restrain an unattractive snort when she saw #wheresviper trending along with some manipulated tweets of herself in a Waldo costume, but with green stripes instead. This sort of fan interaction she could handle, and quite enjoyed it - face to face was an entirely different matter.
Perhaps it was the idea of distance, with either a screen between her and others, or some other medium, like a phone when she spoke to callers, that appealed to her. And it wasn't just fans. Dealing with anyone required some sort of screen to shield herself (she inwardly winced at the accidental pun), which is why she enjoyed her pipe and the hazy smoke screen it created. And, Viper thought vindictively, it made it harder to see how truly unattractive her companions were. She'd never met anyone who could be considered even vaguely attractive in an opium den.
As the evening crickets began to chirp, the sky darkening to lovely cobalt hue and stars beginning to dance into the blanketed sky, the audience quieted its hushed murmur and the large screen flickered on, nearly blinding with it's light at first. Viper sighed, relieved, but didn't lower her hood. In her peripheral, she noticed a young man settle down beside her about a foot away. In the darkness it took her longer to realize that the man was one of the newer artists - the drummer from Infuscation. Viper slid a little closer, no longer paying attention to the movie - not that she had planned to pay attention, she had just wanted a little peace - and tilted her head, stray verdant strands escaping her hood.
"Didn't expect to find another artist hiding in the back," she murmured in greeting, flashing a small, amused smirk.

"Oh piss off, already," Viper hissed to the photographer following her incessantly. He claimed to be taken with the planes of her face whatever that was supposed to mean. She stopped her angry stalk for a moment, causing the man to stumble. The vocalist had been regretting saying yes to that stupid phone call years ago even more than usual this past month, and it was taking all her willpower not to storm off from the festival. Unfortunately, she'd signed a contract, and a job was a job. That didn't mean she had to put up with these bullshit stalker-wankers.
"One more picture, and that's it, understood?" Her voice was cold leaving no room for argument - the photographer was left with no option but to nod his head helplessly and bring his camera up for a final shot. A bright flash, and he scurried off, no doubt to bother some other artist. In some ways, Viper didn't understand why they were so keen to get pictures of her - she was the least sociable of NiteLite. Darcy and Tasha were both far more accommodating of the media's insatiable desires, and handled the press like pros while all Viper did was scowl until she was left alone.
The emerald haired beauty began walking in her original direction towards the cinema stage, but just for good measure, detoured to the artists' tents. She knew she'd packed a hoodie somewhere to cover her distinctive hair. As usual the areas was filled with quiet murmurs of the staff, the occasional angry yell of divas and once in a while the delighted shrieks of some fan who won a VIP pass or whatever. Distracted by a security guard carrying a girl shrieking something about Phil Coulson's babies, Viper turned her face into a bush of lavender hair.
"Sorry about that," she said politely when she pulled away from the amethyst strands before peering at the artist she'd bumped into. "You're one of the Odyssey girls, right?"

Viper hated unpacking. She had hated it back in college, she hated it now. In fact, her current apartment, where she'd lived for nearly three years now, still had unpacked boxes she hadn't bothered to open. Clearly, if she'd survived this long without them, she didn't need whatever was in the boxes anyway. Even on trips, the singer lived out of her suitcase, never bothering to take her clothes out and put them in the hotel closet. Besides, if she did unpack, she'd end up packing in haphazardly manner, stuffing her belongs as best as they'd fit into whatever suitcase she'd brought. But today, she wasn't unpacking her clothes - her 'costumes' had been brought in separately, though honestly they were just regular clothes with a bit more sequins - she was unpacking something a bit more fun.
The verdant haired vocalist rummaged through her larger case, past the torn pants, and fitting shirts to a hidden catch a friend had sown into the baggage. Inside the compartment was a gift, Viper's idea of the nectar of the gods, something to preserve her sanity this week. The woman was known for being cold and somewhat prickly towards people, and would desperately need something to take the edge off at some point during the week. Her slim fingers found the catch she was looking for and lifted the padded opening to reveal a long bottle filled with a pearly green colored liquid, a small pill box holding round dark beads, and a lovely handcarved pipe. Everyone had their vices after all.
The HYDRA presenter paused for a moment, listening carefully for any signs of activity near her tent. Sure that no one would bust in, she smirked and lifted the bottle from her case. Viper enjoyed not having reporters follow her everywhere to see what debauchery she got up to, and preferred to keep scandals away from her name. And while it was expected of everyone to get wasted or stoned at a Festival, the artists were expected to behave professionally at least until they performed.
In one practiced move, Viper had popped the cap to the bottle and raised the rim to her lips - which were colored several shades darker than the hue of her favorite drink. Absinthe left her feeling delightfully light, as if she'd shed her skin, but only when she drank a significant amount. For now, before she had to deal with people, she'd only need a sip. The forest haired woman had just tipped the bottle into her open mouth when someone entered her tent.
In her haste, Viper nearly choked on the liquid she'd ingested and spilt some on her top as she quickly closed the bottle. She whirled around, hiding the bottle behind her back and hissed, "What the hell? What do you want?"
