Friends, Performers, Philanthropists... (Open)
Hank McCoy wandered in between the tents and booths of the Midway. The miniature town had sprung up several weeks ago when Lady Ophelia’s had arrived to begin their string of performances. Barefoot, as usual, Hank felt the grass and dirt beneath him. Deftly, the aerialist avoided large trunks of equipment, people, and any dangerous objects littering the ground. He was on a mission. With word flying around that one of the shows was going to have to be sold to make ends meet, McCoy had taken it upon himself to save the circus. Now he was on a hunt to find financial backers for the troupe. Everyone, in both acts, was good at what they did. Hopefully there would be no problem convincing some rich folks to contribute some large sums of money to the circus. Finally he came to his destination. Surely someone within would be able to help to point him in the right direction. “Knock, knock,” the trapeze artist said aloud, unable to properly announce himself on the flap of a tent. “Hank here.” He peeled back the entrance to the tent and stepped inside, bending in order to not bump his head. His training allowed him to be surprisingly graceful, despite his tall, somewhat gangly form. “So, I have a very important question. I have been asking around. Do you happen to know anybody with deep pockets, who is also willing invest in a circus? I see no point in breaking up our great big family if we are able to find a person, persons, or organization willing to provide us with support.” The trapeze artist gave a sheepish grin. “I know that’s a lot to ask, but I was hoping you could help.”
"Hey have you seen my balls?"
".... I heard it right after I said it."
Vanishing Act || OPEN {Circus AU}
There was no greater thrill than hearing the gasps of the crowd.
Sure, the crowd was getting smaller year by year, but Kitty never ceased to amaze them. Pulling scarves and birds (seemingly) from thin air, pulling unsuspecting audience members and having them lock her in a box, only for her to reappear at the top of the circus tent's pole - watching their faces, seeing their shock; it just made her heart soar.
She never stayed for their applause, because her last trick always ended with a flash of light, a puff of smoke, and Kitty, obviously, being gone. Her well-trained bat, Lockheed, would always collect whatever money or flowers anyone threw from the audience, and bring it to her dressing room.
Kitty slipped through the tent flaps into the cool night air, listening to the cheers coming from inside. Her sequined black dress sparkled in the moonlight. The vanishing act was over, and she was tired. She spun around when she heard someone call her name from a few feet away.
"Who's there?" she whispered urgently. No one was supposed to see her after her finale.
"Nailed it! Could have been better though"
"It's harder than it looks."
"Yes, one of the shows will have to be sold; No, the buyer and I haven't settled on which; and I don't know, I haven't decided the theme of the show so I haven't decided who to feature yet either."
"Does that answer your question or do you still have a reason to be in my tent?"
Reach for the sky (Circus Au) Open
Time slowed just by a fraction of a second each time her eyes met the sky. It felt as if she was flying through the sky, bobbing up and down the breeze like a bird using the air currents to stay in flight. Of course the sight ended as she flipped mid air, legs straight and arms out. Her feet hit the trampoline and up Dahlia went again. Lips pulled into a gentle smile as she soared high up, arms falling back as she bent her knees so that her hands almost touched her feet. Gravity pulled her back down , but this time she went into a half sitting position and bounced once on her back in order to to a front flip mid air and land on one of the safety mats on the ground by the circular trampoline.
Panting, the young acrobat walked over to the nearby chair and grabbed the water bottle that was on top of it. There was no particular reason as to why she was using the trampoline on a beautiful day. Normally she would have taken the chance to run around making the Midway grounds her own obstacle course. Not today. There was a lot on her mind now and it was bothering her. Uncapping the bottle, she drank half the bottle before putting the cap back on and setting the bottle down.
Making her way back to the trampoline, she lifted herself up to sit on the edge and just let her feet dangle of the side. Dahlia should officially start practicing new tricks, but the possibility of losing a home and all the hostilities had her worried. Choosing her side would be the obvious choice and yet, there was pity for the others. In frustration, Dahlia got back on the trampoline and started to jump, gaining height before performing twists, flips, kicks and other tricks she knew. The one decision and promise she made was that never again would she be back on the streets.
As she attempted a front hand spring mid air, she forgot to arch her back on the way to her feet and ended up doing a somersault. Thus causing her to land wrong on the trampoline, go up in the air flailing and fell onto a mat with a grunt. "Son of a bitch....That smarts"
