The orthodontist feeds my creative side. First time writing for Kian, so sorry if it's a little bit OOC, and it's my first time writing fanfiction in a long time, so sorry for any mistakes! I apologize if it's completely horrible (: Either way, enjoy!

I never liked going to the orthodontist. Not only did it smell like a hospital, but it was always packed to the brim with prepubescent teens and fully grown adults, who were insecure of their teeth. Once in a while, a normal teenager would appear and we’d have an unspoken understanding of misery, as we weren't blessed with cool, hip parents that cared out about prepubescent woes.
Standing there, however, I felt today was going to be different.
The patient waiting room wasn’t packed with pre-teens or adults. It looked bare, compared to other days, but there still wasn’t any room to sit, leaving me to stand in the doorway.
“Name?” a blonde, blue-eyed nurse asked, spying my new face.
“Emma,” I responded, giving her a tight smile.
She nodded, walking away to sift through countless files to look for mine.
As she did this, a chilly breeze swept through the room, alerting everyone a new patient was about to appear.
Sure enough, a teenage boy walked in and quietly surveyed the room. Noticing there was no place to sit, he decided to stand next to me, falling back a little bit as to not make it weird. Despite this, I noticed he towered over me and, out of the corner of my eye, I checked him out.
A tiny smirk crawled onto his face and I knew I had been caught, making a rosy pink color my cheeks. His smirk grew and he returned the favor.
This time it was my turn to smirk and his cheeks to go pink.
Our “moment” was cut short, though, as a nurse accidently bumped into him, trying to get his name. Biting my lip to keep from laughing, I saw his cheeks turn a darker shade of red in embarrassment as he mumbled out his name.
“Kayla,” the same nurse called as she turned to leave, making a pretty red-head stir from her phone-induced zombie state and follow her.
I took the chance to sit down, regretting my decision as the boy moved up and got a full view of my face. I mentally huffed in annoyance, mad I was not getting the same opportunity, but someone else was called and I seized my chance.
His brown hair was swept to the side, emphasizing his gorgeous chocolate brown eyes. His cocky smirk was set in place as he took a seat across from me.
We weren’t alone, however, limiting our communication to nonverbal cues. But, by the time we were alone, both of us were experts at body language. It was easy to tell one of us was going to speak up anytime, but I chickened out, and refused to look at him. My curiosity won out in the end, and I snuck a glance, his gaze piercing into mine.
With a small smile, he extended his hand to me, introducing himself, “My name’s Kian.”
I returned his smile, introducing myself as well, “My name’s Emma.”
He nodded in acknowledgement and moved to sit by me, leaving us in a slightly awkward silence, both of our cheeks painted bright red.
“Emma,” a nurse called out, making me stand up.
I turned to say bye, feeling awkward leaving without saying a proper goodbye, only to be met with a piece of paper being shoved into my outstretched hand.
A small giggle escaped my lips and Kian turned redder, mumbling a hasty reply.
Not hearing him well, I nodded, hoping to not look stupid. I followed the nurse then, sneaking a glance at the paper when Kian could no longer see me.
