IXtober day 26:
"You're not alone!"
Really though, Kuja going “Garland, that’s a bad joke. Garland? Garland, answer me!” is just the same as a young kid being told something awful.
“Dad? That’s not true, is it? ...I don’t like this, Dad. Tell me it’s okay. Say something!”
And Garland does nothing. He only drives home how useless and worthless he sees Kuja, how disposable he sees Kuja’s life - and that of any Genome.
It really is heartbreaking, and it’s honestly one of those few things where I knew it was coming to some extent and it’s still making me cry.
I wonder how Zidane got his name. According to Garland, Genomes aren't supposed to have names. Names are unnecessary.
I'm thinking, when Kuja abandoned Zidane somewhere on Gaia, he might of had like an identification number on him. Terran numbers look a bit like letters maybe? And someone coulda misread it as Zidane.
More likely is that Baku named him. But I do like this idea.
