take that harkun you bastard
I guess someone from BioWare had an AU where Ffon didn't die and later joined the Alliance bc they look the same.
TIL that there's dialogue for the Sith Inquisitor if they don't have Khem Val as an active companion when returning to Harkun after releasing him
Hmm. Let's do an easy one. Harkun vs... Ffon?
Ffon. Ffon 10000%
This is A Thing that is almost entirely @sith-shenanigans ' fault bc they made me love him HE'S BABY. HE'S AN ANXIOUS KID WITH NO CONFIDENCE TRYING TO GET BY ON A BIG MOUTH AND I LOVE HIM. His coping mechanism for the 'hhhhhh' is 'be as aggressively arrogant as possible' but it's FAKE and Harkun SCREWED HIM OVER by trying to rig Zash's tests like that.
He's BABY.
I want to Protect Him and give him proper coping mechanisms that aren't 'put on as much Bluster and Big Sith Words as he can'.
Ffon lives au. He gets Good Mentoring and learns to have Real confidence.
Also like, Ffon and Kehsk aren't that different. All bark with hardly any bite, getting through the fact that they're overwhelmed and underprepared by putting on a sharp attitude. They have the same way of trying to cope, and trying to survive, the same exact mask. Kehsk just outlived him.
ffon’s role in the quiz story is the same as vemrin’s role in the sw story, in as much as both of them serve both as definitions of and foils to the player character, as well as merely being rivals for the course of the sith prologues
specifically, they both represent the opposite of the player’s (canonical) starting place, and exist to contrast the player character with forces in the empire that they will struggle against during their class story
the sw is canonically of noble birth, whereas vemrin’s bloodline is in question; the sw has been pampered from birth, whereas vemrin has had to fight for every scrap if advancement he has acquired
similarly, ffon is red sith, and according to cut content was adopted by harkun. as a force-sensitive red sith, ffon is a member of a highly privileged segment of sith society - unlike the player character, who (canonically) is a non-human alien and a former slave
ffon also represents and illustrates the nepotism and favouritism rampant in the empire - the same nepotism and favouritism that the sw benefits from in their own prologue, and that vemrin and the quiz both struggle against early in their careers. harkun favours ffon not because of his strength, but because of his species - and because of his own attachment to the younger sith.
while little is known even in cut content of ffon’s bloodline, the quiz’s is known: they are a descendant of kallig, who following his defeat at the hands of tulak hord was cast out, his bloodline becoming one shunned by sith society. the point that the quiz is of a lesser bloodline is made repeatedly through the quiz story, with the mother machine on belsavis explaining that the quiz’s (canonical) species was created for use as a slave caste by the rakata
it is worth noting that though legacy unlock and other changes to the game mean that player characters can now be any species, the quiz story was it was originally written allowed only for (i believe) human, zabrak, twi’lek and rattataki quizzes (if someone has sources on this i’d be gr9ful)
baseless hc of the day: ffon was born without the Force, and like all red sith who are born Force-blind, was dumped by his parents as soon as. he was raised in an orphanage (because really, who would adopt a runty sith) but when his ability to use the Force finally manifested, was shunted into an Academy prep school and somehow wound up as overseer harkun’s ward. the rest, as they say, is history.
why do i care so much about this dumb asshole? idk man, i am a simple fruit, i see a tomato, i adopt them
I said it to my friends and I'll say it again. Last time I played through with Kas I was waaayy more focused on how she felt about Harkun (and also figuring out her actual lore and stuff cause this was AGESSSS ago) so I didn't give Ffon as much thought.
BUT ☝️☝️ This time I cannot help but notice that there are the vibes here for a hatefuck situation, if only Ffon had lived long enough for both of them to figure that out lol
