The wolf picked up speed and shot itself into the air towards Ian's head while he was still focused on the grenade, releasing a mechanical roar from its metal mouth. In a split second the grenade opened
with a golden flash, and the wolf's face slammed into an invisible barrier in front of Ian, releasing golden sparks where it made contact.
It wasn't a grenade, Ian realized- it was a force field! Ian's eyes moved past the wolf to find Auri himself standing on the other side of the bridge where the wolf was not a minute ago, but he was wearing dark gray mechanical battle armor with bands of
golden light wrapped around it, and two large silver wings stretching out away from him on either side.
Auri's wings activated with a burst of fire and he shot upwards while the wolf ran towards him. Auri, hovering in midair, pushed his palms forwards, and six turrets glowing with golden rings of light
detached themselves from Auri's armor to assemble around his hands. Glowing orbs began to rapidly shoot out of each of the turrets towards the wolf as it weaved its way around them in a blur. Dirt exploded out of the ground and dissipated as it floated upwards, revealing the unharmed wolf.
Auri grunted, and the six turrets arranged themselves into one large mass. A golden laser of light exploded out of the mass of conjoined turrets and began chasing the mechanical beast, when suddenly it
kicked off of the ground with its hind legs and propelled itself towards Auri, who easily dodged the attack.
"Thanks for the opening," He said with a smirk. The turrets quickly disassembled and returned to Auri's suit, and he released a large, spear-like blast of light from his gloves, piercing the vulnerable wolf as
it fell towards the ground.
The wolf shattered into a million little pieces of metal which rained down upon Ian.
