My problem is that canon-Snape is so absolutely shit as a person but has so much potential to be a fantastic character and person-in-a-relationship with Harry that well-written, different Snapes have made me ship Snarry.

Hey guys, so in the two years since I last posted up here about my own fanfiction I have explored and widened my slash horizons and as such have begun writing a Snarry fic. Let me know what you think! <3
I’ll Find You In The Dark
Harry and Draco had plans to take Teddy out trick-o-treating. A new skill, misinformation and a break-in veer plans for a calm Halloween off course.
This was the piece I wrote for @ourloveislegendrarry‘s Dralloween.
I’ve posted it on AO3. Here’s an excerpt -
“Draco!” Teddy yelled, crashing into Draco’s legs, making him topple over.
“Well someone’s enthusiastic,” said Draco, smiling wryly as he pulled the boy into a hug before getting to his feet.
“We’re going trick-o-treating, Draco! I’m going to get so much candy!” Teddy said, bouncing with excitement as the fringe of hair that was visible through his costume changed colour from brown to the same shade of blond as Draco’s.
Teddy was dressed as a dark grey snake, his small green socked feet sticking out a little way in front of the tail. He looked adorable with his small face sticking out right below the head of the snake.
“Yes, we are. You look great. Where’s Harry?”
At this, the seven year old frowned. “In the kitchen, I think. He said he’s feeling poorly.”
Draco immediately made his way to the kitchen to find Harry bent over the sink, his back muscles stiff with tension.
Murmuring to Teddy to wait in the living room, Draco stepped forward.
“Harry?”
“Hey, Draco,” He greeted, turning to smile weakly at him. Harry looked sick alright. His face had lost its color and his jaw was taut.
“What’s the matter?” Draco asked, cupping Harry’s face in his hands. “You were fine before you left for work.”

Draco scratched out the last line he’d written, consulting the text in front of him again.
No, changing the proportions makes aconite deadly instead of more helpful what if -
The sound of his floo ringing interrupted his thoughts. With a growl, he stood up from his desk and stepped in front of the sofa to address the head in his fireplace.
“Granger.”
“Oh thank goodness, Malfoy. Do you know where Harry is?” She asked, looking distressed and Draco could faintly make out the cries of her child.
“Harry?” He frowned. “The Ministry obviously. They have their practical exams today, don’t they?”
“Yes and that’s the problem. Apparently he quit and then disappeared. Ron had just enough time to send me a patronus telling me what happened; he can’t leave until he’s done and that won’t be for a few more hours. I tried floo-calling but Harry isn’t answering and I can’t go check on him myself because Rose has a ear infection and she’s fussing -”
“Granger, breathe. I’ll go and you look after your ginger brat,” Draco said in a tone that sounded both condescending and reassuring. It was a skill he’d perfected since associating with stubborn gryffindors.
The curly haired woman scowled fiercely at him. “I told you to stop calling her that but - thank you. Let me know if Harry needs anything or if you can’t get in. He’s probably warded us all out.”
Draco held his tongue but nodded, resisting the urge to snap at her that he was perfectly aware of how Harry could be. He'd only known the git for a decade.
After the fire died down, Draco went back to his desk, saving his place in the text and making a rough note on the corner of the parchment he’d been writing in. He could come back to that later. He walked around his flat, gathering a few things before stepping into the fire place.
“12, Grimmauld Place”
Draco was prepared to be spat back into his own apartment but noted with surprise that he had reached his destination. Stepping out of the fireplace, he brushed the soot off his jumper.
“Potter? Are you home?” He called out, following the delicious scent of cooking food downstairs and into the kitchen.
Entering the room, he found the dark haired man bent over a pot on the stove. He turned abruptly, green eyes flashing behind those ridiculous glasses.
“Draco? Well, this is a surprise. Come and sit,” Harry pointed at the table with the spoon in his hand.
“You’re cooking,” Draco muttered before realizing how stupid he sounded stating the obvious. It was excusable of course because Harry rarely cooked; he was usually too busy. “Is Smith coming over for a date or something?”
Harry scoffed. “Merlin, no. I broke up with him on Saturday. He kept whinging about me not paying attention to him. I didn’t have time to deal with his shit. I had to study.”
Draco felt a smirk slip on his face as he dropped down into a chair casually.
“No, Draco. Shut up.”
“I didn’t even say anything,” The blond protested trying to sound innocent.
“Maybe, but I know you were thinking it,” Harry tilted his chin up and in a haughty tone continued. “Potter, your poor taste in clothes does not excuse your poor taste in men. Smith is an utter berk and I told you so even before your first date.”
Draco let out a laugh. “Neither bad nor wrong.”
Harry’s lips quirked up in a smile before his expression dimmed. “Wait, how did you know I’d be home?”
“Granger called,” Draco replied, pulling out the a bottle from his coat pocket and placing it on the table in front of him. “Ogden’s best Firewhiskey. So are we celebrating or mourning your exit from the Auror service?”

So think 8th year at hogwarts, right? Ron and Harry are watching Hermione and Draco arguing because no, Granger, powdering ingredients and casting a reducto on them are not the same thing when Draco goes, “Now next you’ll tell me that Potter can brew felix felicis from memory.”
Harry can’t take it anymore. For Merlin’s sake it’s been two months already, and this still hasn’t changed.
“Draco, you were fucking me into my mattress last night. The least you could do is call me Harry.” Draco turns pink and mutters, “Shut up, Potter.”
The dark haired boy raises and eyebrow and Draco sighs. “Fine. Harry. Happy now? I think your Weasley’s in shock.”
Ron had indeed paled, making his freckles stand out as he got up from the armchair and walked away.
The two boys still sat by the fire turn to Hermione who, for some reason, is wearing a very smug smirk.
“Is he going to be alright?” Harry asks cautiously.
“Oh he’ll be fine,” She replies, grinning as Ron comes back and presses some coins into her palm, groaning.
“Really? Malfoy?”
“Uh, Pott- Harry. What’s going on?” Draco asks, moving over on the ground and letting Harry wrap an arm around his shoulders as they leaned on the sofa. No reason not to, the kneazle’s out of the bag after all.
Harry pulls the blond closer and nuzzles his cheek with a happy sigh. “Not a clue. ‘Mione?”
“Well Ron refused to believe the two of you were together so we had a bet,” Hermione explains, petting Crookshanks who’d just hopped into her lap. “Which, I obviously just won. Thank you, boys.”
Harry shakes his head, chuckling. Of course she knew.
Hermione always knows.
